Whiz with a view. I once went to a party in the Santa Cruz mountains Way up a dirt road off of Hwy 9 in a geodesic dome with a cargo net strung in the tree ring outside. Way off grid. Way out of our minds. The out house had no door as it was at the edge of a cliff with a view of the entire San Lorenzo Valley all the way out to the sea. Spent a lot of time in the Sierra Nevada. Still reckon that was the best.
Interesting experiment with the steering damper. Those rock gardens on the North-South Track certainly are a good test. I remember the pain in my arms and hands from when we rode it much slower than you guys do. When we rode that rocky path near the rockslide, just before your whizz with a view, I fell off the track, downhill, bike and all still clipped-in. I had to climb back up about 3 metres hauling the bike with me. That was the day I decided to ditch the clipless peddles, and go for flats. Tell us the verdict about the steering damper. I have steering damping on my bikepacking fat bike to stop wheel wobbles on descents. I'm not certain I would like the effect on the rear wheel on jumps. Though I don't jump much with a fully loaded fat bike. Chicken Joe's dietary exploits are always a good laugh.
what a billboard for trails in southern TAS. so much fun! what was the final verdict on the steering damper? what do you think about the rockshoxs electronic suspension ?
How did you like it, will you run it more and consider competing with it? I've been intrigued with steering dampening/tension ever since Canyon's KISS and then found that Hopey's steering damper had been around a long time. Looks like Pademelon now own Hopey's design rights. I'd love to try either one out one day.
how does the lower part of the damper attach to the frame, I had the original hopey damper and it would go under the headset cup and the clamp on after you pressed ther cup in, the new intergrated headsets dont offer anything to clamp to, Id like to know!
It's South Hobart, some trails off the slopes of Mount Wellington and South Hobart, including the North South Track that starts at the Springs on Mt Wellington to get to Glenorchy Downhill Track and end in Glenorchy MTB park. Looks like they rode back to Hobart along the Inter City Cycle path to the back of the Cascade brewery on Old Farm Road where they parked their vehicles.
@@marcelknop1I did all of North-South at the beginning by of Feb when I was down there for testing at Tassie Institute Of Sport. Unbelievable trails on offer in Hobart.
Is that your bike creaking like an old barn door up the climb? Surprised Major P wasnt ready with the grease gun to fix it up!

Almost every form of motorcycle racing has a steering damper option. I run the Scotts on my ktm 300 xcw and it's great.
Kim dusty dusting ya on that racetrack lap haha 😜

All of us mere mortals have been in that same situation on the north south rock slide 😅
Remdogs a legend!😂

How is it to prevent jack-knifing (like steering dampers in mx/enduro bikes)?
My muddy, rusty old headset has the same effect.. 🤣
Hopey was just twenty years too early.

You mean a Hopey Device. The tech comes from the aerospace/airplane industry.
Been on dirt bikes for the last 20 years, that’s where the inspiration comes from
Sounds like mechanical doping in the whip off. I'll Sue!
