Really cool video btw, abt the npc thing though, one of my first projects used npcs and it was really fun and a good experience tbh, getting out of my comfort zone while starting out development was actually pretty good but now it’s a habit and I always end up trying to make a game that’s too ambitious. One thing I’d say for new devs is to make a lot of projects and have fun but when you’re serious about a game, take it slow and try to get a few ppl to work with.
Icl, I have started making a big ass project with practically no experience besides the basics and some advanced stuff but now I've decided to make a simulator game, but i cant even make my aura turn off and still turn back on again. It's demotivating asf trying everything you know and nothing working, but I know that its apart of the process. To anyone reading this, remember why you started and hold onto that with your life I'll come back to this comment in a few months to tell you that I'm still scripting.

Another mistake, is doing it alone. I reccomend having a team of like 3-4 people who all do different stuff, maybe get some friends to help, etc.

yeah i can relate i also had and still have the same problem, half a year ago i started a game that was very fun to develop for first 5k lines but then it got exponentially harder due to my own incompetence and lack of experience which ultimately made me quit developing for like 3 months

First one pretty much sums up my dev experience. My pride and joy Godbreakers took me about 8 months to get about 5% of the game done. Most ambitious first project one could do. But obviously, as it was my first game, it just kept on getting more and more messy. About 20000 lines of code for just a basic combat system. Obviously, i got fed up and quit working on it altogether. But I did learn a lot from it, can pretty much say I learned 80% of my dev knowledge from it.
1 year later and I'm now a fullstack dev. I do vfx, animating, scripting, building, UI, and sfx. It's painful but I'm close to releasing my first game. So yeah, don't make your first project super ambitious.

they're all amateur teachers who follow the same habits, leading to more fraudulent tutorials
they all have their roblox avatar rendered in belnder, usually doing a stupid pose, with something that says something like "beginner scripting tutorial, fastest way to learn quickly"
then it's some random kid barely doing anything for the vid, not explaining the code or telling you to do this, LIKE WHAT AM I HERE FOR?!?
they will never be like PeasFactory, and he taught more 10 years ago with outdated tech lmfao, it's so embarassing
OH ALSO take a shot if they mumble about motivation at random points, since they know they suck at teaching lmfao

I loved alvinblox and sat through all his tutorials. I get you don't like him, but lots of people do. I ran my first code thanks to him, and he's really good at what he does. He and TheDevKing helped multiple people when there were no tutorials on scripting at the time they started.

How do you recommend I join projects that I'm interested because I dont think I'm good enough to actually make a game but if I were to help in making a project that I liked I think that would be better

I mean, yeah, roblox is kinda evil, but what is the other option? Unity? Like man, there is no way I'll have enough dedication to actually make a game on Unity, it's just so hard. With Roblox, you don't have to manage servers, and if you want people to play with you you can just give them a LINK, and how do you expect me to make 5 people install my game?
I think for me that's more of a hobby (cuz it's fun), but still, sometimes I start feeling like what I'm doing is useless, I'm not learning anything useful, nobody will ever play my game and that I'm just wasting time 🥲

dude T.T i spent like a year on and off making a complex fighting game. Ive had to rescript the systems 15 times, not joking. i think i gotta learn other stuff before this

You can use a plugin for welding, it’s really helpful. Once you get it, click on the hand you want it to be welded to and then click the handle of the sword
