  • In Lapland, the conditions are quite unique, it is not the most extreme mountainous landscape, however it offers a very unique experience when the weather is on your side.
This year we got lucky to have few days of extremely good weather with suitable snow conditions for some off-piste freeride session. The landscape is breathtaking with all these trees covered by a large amount of snow, giving you the feeling that you are snowboarding on a different planet. On sunny days, the temperature can drop to -23°C, creating a very challenging environment especially when you ride down the slopes at near 80km/h of speed.
Around the shortest day of the year (between the 17th and 28th of December) the sun does not rise in the sky. Only when on top of the fell you can actually see the sun shining, otherwise you are always in the shadow. This create a multitude of shades of colors that is a mix of sunset and sunrise at the same time, creating the land of powerful colors. The landscape become unreal and riding down the fell is an unbelievable feeling.
I hope you will enjoy the video.

Sorry for my late reply. I suggest to go around the shortest day of the year 21st of December. I believe the best period is around new year or January.
