- Requested by a sub on how to uninstall and reinstall new throttle and shift cables. Easy process, however there are a lot of mechanisms that can make it dysfunctional. Hope this video helps someone. As always, Thank you for watching!!!!
A messy garage is a busy garage.
Thanks for the video. Just a quick question, I bought my first boat that has a merc 65 hp 650 3 1975 engine on it and the same control system, my question is what is the lever to the left of the throttle/gear lever used for? sorry for the stupid question as I am on a steep learning curve
Just bought a 1976 150hp straight 6cylinder I think they call it the tower of power , sidewinder? Thanks for the videos.
Tower of Power. Sidewinder is a make of a boat. Son

Where can I get the cable anchors at
Hey son, i have a question to ask here. I have replaced new throttle cables 13ft on mine. Now the forward throttle has free access just after the shift clicks and the other handle follows and moved when I push down on forward. Why is that? And do i really need the ball bearing that sit on top for clicks after shifting?
Thanks son. Appreciate your help.
The ball bearings is what keeps it in neutral. Not quite sure I understand the first question.
Shift cable has two "slots". Would one be for a counter rotating engine?
I'm uncertain of your question but as far as I know shift cables have nothing to do with counter rotating engines. Son
Where did you order the cables from
Do these allow you to reverse?
Yes.
