Gerard is so visual and such a visionary. He's obviously great at communicating what he sees or hears in his head and making it happen. I LOVE him in music, but he has so much talent he definitely needs to be big screen acting and possibly writing and directing. Lots of people have vision, but he's able to share his vision so well that other people get it, can contribute, and come up with amazing art.

When MCR was really popular, I was too young to choose what music I wanted to listen to. I wish I could take a time machine and go back and live in the days with MCR.

I know, I seriously just started listening to MCR 2 months ago because my taste in music wasn't good enough for me to realize that I liked them. I makes me want to cry.
I got into them at a young enough age to where I was able to grow up with this album and then buy Danger Days on release. I somewhat feel your pain as I lost interest in them for several years since I hated Danger Days and grew out of that phase of my life. I just recently rediscovered my love for them, and it's sad that I'll never be able to see them live :(

I'm new (and very late) to MCR, but it's really easy to see how Gerard Way is an incredible artist.
I tend to connect to bands through their lead singer, and with this guy, it's something that was so easy to do.

I love how creative this concept is. Like when you hear Gerard explain everything you know that it is well planned and the whole artistic expression thing is starting to make sense. Gerard is a really good character and concept designer, glad that they picked Sam to direct or else it would have been a very different video.

My Autobiography A Fanfic hence why i said "artists". i'm more a literature kind of person (a literature and creative writing major here) so i appreciate Lorde's lyrics-writing abilities. she doesn't do much musically, that's true, i guess that's why she's mistakenly lumped into the pop genre - her lyrics are anything but pop. then again comparing MCR and Lorde is hardly fair, as MCR had 5 people - that's 5 musical and artistic minds in collaboration, but Lorde is only one person. sure she most probably had lots of help crafting her music but still. there is a reason solo artists and bands are grouped separately.

Who else misses the Black Parade era?
You know, I saw something different than MCR did for the song. The first minute of the video would be the same, except a child would be at the patient's side. You cut to another boy and his mother watching a parade. He gets a jolt of energy and runs away. He goes past the parade to an ally way with bodies everywhere. There's one on the brink of death. The boy runs up to them and tells them, essentially the chorus. The boy looks up at the end of the chorus to find the bystanders of the parade surround him, menacing and zombie-like, as if he did something wrong. He tries to fight them off and the parade moves down the ally way and picks up the boy while singing the chorus. During the, I guess it's called the bridge? ("do or die"), the boy and the singer tell the zombie-like crowd the lyrics while they do some arm motion like a pledge. At the "I'm just a man" part, it cuts back to the hospital scene where the patient tells their child the rest of the lyrics til he dies on "I. Don't. Care." He appears on the TV as the lead parade singer. During the last lyrics, he pulls his child into the TV with him, as a way to share his vision and memory. At the end of the song, the child is back in the hospital with his/her father's lifeless body. The father is holding their child's hand in one hand, a marching band staff in the other.
But I really enjoyed their creative perspective. It's simpler and probably more symbolic. Just putting in my thoughts on how I thought was going to turn out versus the actual video. I think both musically and visually, it's all inspirationally awesome :D
