OMG! I miss Worlds of Fun, have not been since the 90's wow, yes the memories, Orient Express, Zambie Zinger, driving the cars along that single metal piece in the middle of the trail I use to accidently bump lol! What happened to the Log Ride, it was the water tube ride like the old Monsoon if I'm saying it correctly. Man just like everything else in this generation even though I live in another state now, everything from the past seemed so much better v.s. how it looks now, bring back those 90's rides! Anyway I loved and miss my childhood family amusement times there😂!
I'm SO glad I got to experience the Worlds of Fun of the 1970's early 1980's,..it was so much more charming and magical back then. Just isn't the same now. And WHY did they get rid of all those amazing boats and ships that came for MGM?!?
@@ZacBrzuchalski They could have been preserved if they'd been painted with marine varnish during the off season. There are ships all over the world that are displayed outside in the elements, and are a lot older than the ones that were at Worlds of Fun, and they're kept up just fine...
I went here in 1981 as a Canadian my first amusement park I have friends from Belton Missouri I'll never forget 1 week before I went there was a walkway collapse at the Hyatt Regency. I was 15 years old.
@SkullyHippie i loved the bounce-o-roos!. I loved Timber Wolf but when they put all the brakes on it... it lost a lot of speed. Thankfully the park has brought in alot of beautiful landscaping over the winter(what winter? lol) and retouching a lot of painting and redid the Orient Bathrooms. The Orient bathrooms are really pretty now. My favorite was Zambezi Zinger and Orient Express.
With the buy out from Cedar fair and the Removal of our Iconic roller coasters Kansas City's Worlds of Fun has lost it's Kansas City Identity. The 2 major coasters removal and the addition of rides such as Boomerang and Steel Hawk has placed Kansas City Market in a more generic park a follower instead of a leader like we once were. We really need to be a separate park instead of going the same new club like so many other parks. Lamar Hunt Davis and original plan and an original Park I did based on the Jules Verne Look Around the World in 80 Days Cedar Fair what's to make us more like all their other parks one big carnival with the Midway. If we are going to succeed as a park we need to go back to the formula that Lamar Hunt started with keeping our identity separate from all other parks giving us original coasters back not one that can be written in any Cedar Fair Park weather a coaster Loops to the left or to the right there still the same formula as found in other Cedar Fair parks. Our identity should be as original as the founding of the Kansas City Park after all Kansas City is not the same as any Ohio city as any Indiana City California City because we are Missouri Kansas City Missouri once strong as a beef capital of the world we still have American Royal and we should be very proud of that. We need identity back in order to be a success once again.
Spot on. Cedar Fair has pretty much destroyed it. The coolest things we all looked forward to are long gone....The Incredidome, Orient Express, Scream roller, Zambezi Zinger, Safari Cars....on and on and on!
@@mrjtmac7goldenoak438 Orient express was great but it was old and was a huge head banger. Shook like crazy. People stopped riding it because it was probably causing some CTE lol they had to remove it. The newer coasters are still pretty good, Mamba and Patriot are a blast.
@@Spikedoesartz I get that...just what they've replaced some of the nostalgic rides with was horrible moves. Boomerang is a prime example I think....terrible ride and Zambezi Zinger was still a great ride with lots of history. People want to come to a park and share the rides they rode as kids with their kids. They just lost every bit of their history I think. About the only thing left is the viking voyage. I like Mamba, but not crazy about Patriot. The last time I went I couldn't even find my way around it changed so much. I think Cedar Fair certainly puts it on the back burner.
I hate that they got rid of the Omegatron for the Thunderhawk because I loved the Omegatron. Every time I went after they got Thunder hawk, I never got to ride it because it was always down for maintenance. Now it's gone and I'm upset because I never got the chance to experience it.
nebchic when the park first opened there was nothing there. then they added Aerodrome as another "land". that got turned into Pandemonium kids section and then Bernstein's Bears kid section. Then Camp Snoopy and finally Planet Snoopy.
Well now the scramblers right back where the octopus was thunderhawks not there anymore Zambezi finger is now next to the boomerang we do have a new ride called the Mustang Runner and Nordic Chaser where the ride where it spins you around four drops out used to be and there is a new building back there behind the prowler for the train show now
Do you where in KC the carnivals set up at? The last carnival I been to was back in 1996 when the huge carnival used to set up at 95th and Metcalf in Overland Park Ks
Mike King It’s still a fun park, but needs MAJOR improvements... I personally feel they should RMC Timberwolf! The park hasn’t got a new ride in nearly 10 years! (Prowler 2009)
Ohh I grew up going here every summer. Season passes I miss the old rides .

They got rid of the boats mostly due to wood rot.

Seeing the older attractions brings back memories.

Anyone remember the big dome where you laid on the floor and watched a short movie projected on the ceiling?? I was super young, early 80's.
Incredidome
Yep the incredidome. Was just talking to my mom about that the other day.
yep
Yes! I loved that.
omg, the song you started playing around 6 minutes in.. so good lol
Lots of great memories
I miss the bounce-a-roos!
Good video
my favorite ride was the orient express
Can you do an updated version

It was the best place in the 80’s and early 90’s. It isn’t the best of the best anymore.
Video needs to be updated again
I Hope they keep the timber wolf and the prowler
The Grand Prix is a palace now and Octopus is Scrambler again
the grand prix is now where Steel Hawk is. yes Scrambler is back in it's original spot.

They need to RMC Timberwolf...
Prowler is fairly new still

You need to update this, because some of the now rides are not there anymore. I am a annual passholder, so I go there alot
This was made 12 years ago btw
I love worlds of fun my favorite ride is the fjord fjarlane
Oriental Octopus is not the mustang :)
Would you be able to do an update on this video? thank u
How long ago was this taken
There was magic to it back then. I remeber they would put bumper stickers on your bumper.
I can not think of this off hand, what used to be where the Camp Snoopy rides are now? Anything?

Zambezi Zinger

i miss that ride
99 percent of what they replaced was a horrible move!
I agree. Too me... they ruined World's of Fun.
Scramblers back
@SkullyHippie i know right. lol
Halloween haunt is not scary anymore
Never should had replaced Asylum Island or camp gonnagetcha. Lots of atmosphere.
Wash much better then....
i honestly think they need to take the Timber Wolf out it is too jerky it's not even fun anymore
They re-tracked it and now it's a lot smoother
No way. I love it being jerky. It’s unfortunately smoother now.
RMC!!!!!!!!!!!
It was actually really good in 2018
Most of these rides are no better than the carnivals that used to pop around town in the 60's and 70's.
