- Here's the all-new 8-passenger 2023 Honda Pilot Black Edition (similar to the Elite in the USA). The Pilot comes with a 3.5L V6 that puts out 285 horsepower and 262 lb-ft of torque. Yes, there is wireless Apple CarPlay and yes there is wireless charging however the Pilot does not get the larger screen that the Honda Accord offers.

I'll take the Telluride with the 2024 Mazda CX-90 trim package.
I really like the style of the Pathfinder, but the space of the Telluride and the handling of the Pilot and the power output of the CX90 and lastly the reliability of the Highlander.
Canadian black trim looks so much better than boring us elite.
In US you can buy the sport trim with the black stuff and it is much cheaper.

Mike, like the ACCELER8 reviews. But can you describe the ride quality in detail on future reviews? Is the ride firm, soft, plush? Does it have body roll? Also test out the sound system in the videos and describe what you hear. Is the sound system adequate, subpar, lacking bass or nicer than the average stock sound system?

If the shoulder belt for the second row seat is like my 2012 Odyssey's belt, it can be disconnected at the bottom where it's attached to the seat. A coin in the slot will do the trick an the belt retracts up to the roof.

@ 8:38 mark, That button does close the tailgate, but only after you leave the proximity of the car. It will also lock the car for you as well. I believe the feature is called "Tailgate Walk Away Auto Close" or similar. Loved the review overall!
I have a 2005 Honda pilot 290,000 Miles still drives like new and kept it bought my wife a 2023 Honda Pilot she loves it it’s a fantastic SUV the best in its class V6 Naturally aspirated engine No turbo so the engine will last long till less stress on engine components for sure compared to many others with 4 cylinder turbo engines.

Idk about Canada version, but in the US, there is an actual button in the back for you to lock the whole car. It’s next to the trunk opener.

Hey - friendly correction: I just test drove the Trailsport version, and you can recline the 3rd row without reaching behind you. It's a fabric loop near the hip.
QUICK CORRECTION,
The middle seat - seat belt is detachable from the floor, you have to inster a coin in the slot and the buckle releases and you can leave it resting in the ceiling nicely and consealed just like the odyssey.
Actually, the wipers are better in the bottom. The shape of the cleaned area is bigger, more useful and safer (you can see more area) than with a wiper from the top.
Personally I like the Trailsport edition. Very capable off roader.
That hidden compartment in the back you show in the video, you can put the middle section of the 2nd row inside it.

For tailgate, that button is only for closing the gate. I’m not sure for new one, but previous model there’s a button for opening the tgate, and next to it Lock button. So you can lock your car from the tgate.
That is a great looking Pilot and my favorite three row SUV now. Gorgeous.
Thank you for another amazing review. Years ago Piano Black was something that was a "no-no". I have noticed that more automakers are adding Piano Black to not only the interior, but the exterior. 🤯What is going on. 🤯On the exterior I feel it will not hold up over time. And on the interior....lord...the finger prints. 😞 I now see all these BMW SUV's and other high end vehicles with tons of Piano Black. Well have to see if the trend continues.

The 2023 Pilot Elite has a MSRP of $52030, this guys an idiot.
I really like the Pilot, but damn it’s expensive for what you get! I test drove the TrailSport and the Elite. They are both nice, but the Elite was priced at $57,000 USD. Another dealer quoted me $65,000! That seems pricey for no power on the back seats and a small infotainment console. I like the Telluride, but there sure is an awful lot of plastic in the car, and I just don’t trust the brand because I’ve heard their customer service is terrible. The dealers near me are also charging ridiculous “market adjustment fees” simply because they can.
The one SUV I’m leaning towards is the Buick Enclave Avenir. I know it’s kind of boring, but compared to the Pilot and the Telluride, it’s very comfortable and spacious, and has a really smooth ride. I think you can also pay below MSRP and pay less than the competition.
First off, I enjoyed your video and your matter-of-fact honesty of your review of the new 2024 (completely redesigned) Honda Pilot. Secondly, although I currently enjoy driving my 2016 Black Honda Pilot Touring 2WD (esp., for someone who lives in Southern California; 2WD works great), I may be in the market for a new SUV in the next several years. Your meticulous review is exactly how I would examine a new SUV. And lastly, I'm not someone with a huge budget, but rather someone who is more budget conscious and wants to know exactly what I'm buying. That said, great work and I've subscribed to your channel and I look forward for more of your reviews! 😎🌴🏄♂👍 P.S. Looking forward to your review of the new Toyota Sequioa.
I like the Honda Pilot because of the widest width between wheel wells...I can add a sheet of plywood, sheetrock or 2 extra large dog boxes side by side inside a Pilot. I also like there 6-cylinder engine that is likely to last much longer than those 4-cylinder engines in some SUVs. I like the All Wheel Drive up here in Alaska for winter driving. NO CVT, reliable 9 or 10 speed transmission.

Costs twice as my first 3 BR 1 bath house in San Diego in 1960. When is it going to stop? Most people just want a comfortable 4 or 6 cylinder vehicle that gets them from point A to point B. Are their any of those in the 20/25 K range? It has to have 4 tires, brakes, and a steering wheel and enough room for 4 passengers.
The markups on the Telluride will make this Pilot a bargain at this price

Average car prices are just crazy….if you live in states can you buy Black Edition in Canada..
You could, but you would have to pay taxes to get it back in the US, and you wouldn’t be able to get the warranty honored in the US

After driving a Hyundai since 2017 and already on its second engine replacement. I will never buy Kia/Hyundai ever again. This Pilot is calling my name tho, great review. Hyundai and Kia get you with their nice TECH for the price. But when their cars are crap reliability what good is all that tech?

I keep my cars long time and considering the simplicity of the new Pilot it is worth it in my opinion.
Agreed on your final take. I just test drove the Honda Pilot Elite and the Honda Pilot TrailSport. The TrailSport was a little less stable than the Elite. The Elite interior is a bit bland. The ride is good, but not for 60,000, then tax, then insurance etc. Hard pass. No to the Telluride. Too many poor reviews.
Is the black edition not coming to the US? I don’t see it on the Honda website.
It’s not here yet, but I think it may be available soon. The dealership I went to didn’t seem to know. You can add the black rims and black out some of the trim to get the same look. You just don’t get those cool seats though.

Honda has just reintroduced the cheapest trim that has the basic features - the LX trim is cheaper than the Sport trim. I would rather go for Honda's better handling, reliability/durability, performance, and resale value than go for a penalty box handling..

I got the 2022 black edition for 65k, while I don't get to brag about the make of the car, I do feel like I am driving one of the top cars our there. The driving experience and the performance of the car are exceptional with this car.
Night and day difference between Telluride and Honda's interior. It's like Honda didn't care what competitors have to offer.
Change the gear selector back to the original console shift and it’s a buy for me
Please compare to highlander hybrid i.e. v6 vs 4cyclinder 2.4.

Things are expensive and manufacturers do think they can get away with it. I am 100% sure Ford will suffer the most because of this attitude when the demand is completely gone.
The price is outrageous. Only way I would pay that is if I planned on keeping it a million years since it should last. Otherwise I would rather get a luxury vehicle

@@shannonthomass I totally agree, new car prices overall are overpriced. The least expensive vehicles today average $24,000 and with that you don't get much for your money. Compare any comparably spec'd 3 row suv and you find that prices may vary by $2,000 to $5,000 plus or minus. Unfortunately, this may be the new norm.

One thing you should have mentioned is that in Canada the new Honda pilot trailsport does NOT come with the Trail watch camera system ..
in your video you show’d a pic of a trailsport but it had the front camera on it. That is a US model only and not Canadian .. Very disappointed in Honda for not adding that feature in the pilot trailsport Canadian model as it comes with the All terrain tires and skid plates and 1”lift but n🥲NO Trailwatch camera system …… 🤦🏻♂️

My biggest issue is that historically the Pilot and Acura MDX have a STEEP Depreciation curve at least in Texas. I don't know who's buying these new.

I'd take this interior over the refreshed Atlas or Ascent any day! The Atlas and Ascent both have sacrificed ergonomics big time in the pursuit of flashiness.
For how experienced Honda is, their new SUVs make them look verrry tone deaf in a number of ways. It's getting tough to justify paying those prices when companies like Subaru and Kia exist, with their spectacular packaging.
I am very suspect of Kia/Hyundai products. Look at the mess of increased stolen autos. Just yesterday in this area of Washington,DC United States Park Police shot and killed a 17yr old.
They were helping DC police on suspected stolen auto. It was a small Hyundai CUV. It ran into part of house.
So anytime kids can hack and steal some models. Exterior styling lacking on some vehicles.
Subaru makes some good vehicles but not everyone stacks up to competitors.
Subaru 3 Row SUV is not highly rated get some poor ratings.
I'm going by the Consumer Reports Best Worst vehicle Guide 2022 models.
Subaru competitor to Honda Pilot is smaller in cargo volume. It also doesn't use a refined V6 engine like Pilot.
I uses a turbo that takes so getting use to on take off.

For me the options are very limited. I want a small(er) SUV with a 6cyl engine. Toyota, Subaru, Ford are out as they no longer offer ones. It appears to me that Honda is one of the very few that does and they offer ventilated and heated seats, heated steering wheel, and good adjustable seats for me and my wife. It sucks but they are really the only choice and will more than likely the next car we buy. Toyota would probably have had our money but they went with a turbo 4 and that is just crazy in my opinion for a larger vehicle. Also I am not a fan of the electric cars or hybrids because we keep cars over 10 years... so I don't want to pay 10k or more to replace that batter in year 9 or so. The EV will probably never work out for me as well because we take trips and this just would not work out. So it looks like This Honda is basically it. Wish I had more options to compare against.

This is by far the best review for Honda pilot I come across today and I bought the black Edition 2024, cost me 86k$ cad, honestly I don’t like the interior design and screen for this price it should suppose to be more like cadillac escalade for this high price tag

Great review and feedback on the new redesign honda pilot. I do find for whatever reason and l don't know why honda cheaps out on "the little things" ie. Not blacking out the honda emblem and exhaust tips, to moving the wiper blade to the top as well as l noticed thier is no entertainmemt system? I guess honda expectation is that kids are using iphones and tablets for those long trips? As for me l still have my 2018 pilot tourning edition and happy with the options it has would have taken some of new pilot redesign options. Price point is insane but l guess you get what you pay for?
After shortlisting the Pathfinder I waited for the Pilot and then I saw the trim I have to go to just to have a panoramic sunroof. Hmmm that’s an easy no. Not worth it to me.

I believe all V6 honda/acura motors have timing belts. Only the 4 banger K20's used timing chains

The only thing that I don’t like is that it has a timing “belt” not a chain and that’s not good because when that belt goes your engine is fucked! And of course the price but the price of any new vehicle now is insane!!
