This kite takes quite a bit more work than your typical kite, but it's worth it! Maybe when we are all allowed out again, we should have "Kite Day," at every park around the nation - heck the world! Let's be ready for some wind!
Materials needed for a 36” long box kite:
    4 plastic Bags
4 36 inch long dowel rods quarter inch
    Pen
String to reinforce the cross beams and to use to fly the kite
    Tape measure
    Tape (masking tape is fine)
    4 - 14 inch dowel rods
    Straws
    Something to cut the dowels
Steps to building a box kite:
    Build the frame
Make the cross-sections with the 14” dowel rods.
Mark the center of each (7”)
Tie them together with string or tape.
Mark the 36” dowel rods at 6” from each end. This is where the cross-sections will be attached using the straws.
Cut your straws into three sections each and then cut those pieces over halfway through. You will use these to help you align your cross-pieces by bending them and sliding them down to the six-inch mark on the vertical pieces.
Attach the cross pieces. This is the trickiest part, but you want it to make sure it is fairly firm, otherwise, the kite could collapse with the wind.
Wrap the top and bottom with plastic.
Cut the tops and bottoms off of the bags.
Cut down one side to make a one long rectangle of plastic. This will be about 11” x 36”.
Use two of them to wrap your kite around the top and the other two to wrap your kite around the bottom. The middle section will be open.
Use tape to reinforce the top and the bottom so that the plastic does not tear.
Cut a piece of string to 36” and tie it to the top of the kite and to about 12” from the bottom of the other section. Attach your kite string to this piece about 14” from the top of the kite. You might want to see the video for how this looks.
You’re done! Your kite will fly at an angle. You may need to make adjustments. I certainly did!
