Just came across this video- thank you so much Clare. So easy to follow. I love this instead of magnets.

While adding button and string closures to my current album (thanks to this great video), I came up with a little "helper". I glued two pieces of card stock that I used to make the buttons (roughly 1" square) together, punched a small hole in the center, then cut down from each side of the hole to one edge of the square to make an open slot from the hole to that one side. I used it as a shim under the buttons when attaching the brad to be sure the thread had room to fit under the buttons without a struggle. The slot allowed the shim to be easily removed after the brad was secured. I've saved the little shim in my brad box because I know I'll be using this closure in future albums also.

It's your doo-dads that make this closure different than any other version! Really nice look in an album. Thanks for taking the time to make this video...much appreciated!

Ah! I wake up this morning, and here it is. I guess this was uploading when I found the title on your website last evening. I greatly appreciate this tutorial. I HAVE had trouble with some of the sections with a magnetic closure in my Enchanted Forest album. After inserting a reasonable (not excessive) amount of photos, the magnets are pulled just enough out of alignment that they won't keep the flaps securely closed. When I saw your sneak-peek of this closure on your doo-dad tutorial, I thought it would be the perfect answer. Though I do love that oddly satisfying "click" when the magnets attach, I have a long-standing love of button-and-string closures from my office supply junkie side, so I am content. And, as you mention, it's very cost effective; I also find it easier to get brads than the perfect size of magnets. I'm on vacation next week so I will be able to wallow to my heart's desire in constructing my Alice Wide Folio album. Since I already have the photos I wish to place in it, I have been musing on the layout of the pages so I can make sure I can keep the photos in a logical order and have the proper orientation. Thanks to your brilliant idea, I can now adapt the sections that will need to hold more photos to maintain the storyline to use this closure (I'm especially thinking of the file folder pages).

Thank you Clare for that little tutorial, I can definitely make use of it in many places. Sounds like it might in many instances be better than a magnet. Also no limit to the colors you can use either! Love it. Have a wonderful Sunday!
