My family is from NYC but the grace of god my parents moved to Atlanta in the late 70s as a part of the first wave of the current Great Migration. She is 100% spot on with her assessment of NYC as the most segregated city in this country. Yes it’s diverse, but at night everyone goes back to “their neighborhood” and there are very few of them that tolerate outsiders. Most Americans never see this because the stick to the touristy parts of Manhattan. Go to the boroughs though and you can’t escape it. In Atlanta? The only dividing line is how much money you make, and everyone here is unified under one color: green.
