This video describes the difference between 3-in-1 and 2-in-1 parenteral nutrition.
These are sometimes called a total nutrient admixture (TNA) and dextrose-amino acid formulation, respectively.
You will see both kinds of parenteral nutrition defined, and then you will learn about some of the major differences, some of which can be perceived as advantages and disadvantages of each.
In short, a 3-in-1 contains all of the essential nutrients in 1 bag - dextrose, amino acids, lipids, vitamins, minerals, and water, if needed.
A 2-in-1 contains all of the essential nutrients except for lipids.
When a 2-in-1 formulation is provided, an intravenous fat emulsion can be infused separately as a secondary infusion.
This is commonly referred to as a “piggyback” infusion.

Very interesting! Here in the U.S. we do 24 hours. That recommendation comes from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

I don’t practice in pediatrics, so this is certainly not my area of expertise, but I do know the 2-in-1 is used way more often than 3-in-1 in neonates.
I can ask one of my colleagues in pediatrics for details on this, if you’re interested in knowing more.
