During infancy n during thread ceremony (Janeu) Brahmin n Thakur caste boys pierce ears. It also has astrological n scientific reasons behind it. Rahu Ketu planets pareshan nahi karte agar ear pierce karte hai toh. Scientific reason is a nerve is connected from brain to our ear n it functions properly.
