  • Strength, discipline and vision: this was the message from a state that has defied the odds for 70 years. China, the world's longest-surviving communist nation celebrated its achievements on a grand scale. In 1949, the per capita GDP was about $50, today it’s $10,000. But at what cost did this economic success come? Our interview guest, Victor Gao, was once the official translator for Deng Xiaoping -- China's leader from 1979 to 1997 -- and has been watching China's development from a front-row seat.

There is a tendency to see Chinese government as unchanging. This is because in the west the only reforms that really count are those that appear to move the country towards the western model. In fact, government has been through huge and constant reform since 1978, far greater than anything that has taken place in the US or the UK. It is inconceivable that the Chinese state could have masterminded such a huge economic transformation if it too had not been the subject of profound reform.
Hitherto it has been assumed that China, rather than western democracies, will face chronic problems of governance. We have become deeply ahistorical about western democracy, viewing it as some kind of eternal and ideal solution to the problem of governance. Yet it is clear that American democracy has become increasingly dysfunctional, short-term, polarised and subject to capture by vested interests, in particular the 1 per cent.

Western democracies are not so much captured by just the "1%". The fundamental basis of modern (Anglo) Western democracies includes large culturally fragmented groupings that are not invested in the success of that country, this through voting blocs inevitably encourages political polarisation, paralysis and stagnation. You could argue that the 1% somehow play that "for cheap labour" but that is a nonesense in the anglosphere, where cheap labour is not really required "with everything made in China" anyway.

Can you look at the history of Western developed countries, how many have not developed themselves by war and plunder? Even slaughter the aborigines. Let's take a look at China. One depends entirely on the hard work of the people themselves to develop themselves without relying on war and plunder. The West always feels that it is the best nation on earth. But I don’t know that it only started in the last few hundred years. In history, China has been leading the world for thousands of years. From World War I and World War II to the Cold War. It can be seen that China is the most peaceful country among the big powers. Historically, China built the Great Wall not to invade colonial countries, but to protect themselves. The same is true of the current military power. Most of the poor Westerners have been brainwashed and controlled by media controlled by interest groups. Their own people have been looting and colonizing everywhere, and today they have taught others how to protect human rights. What a big irony this is!

Teach everyone Esperanto or something, institute a world minimum wage, and watch history begin! I think the Chinese are showing the way, it might take a few generations (or one BIG war) for people to want to emulate and join this. If you recall the novel Brave New World? This seems to be how the world got organized, and the World Controllers TOOK control, was after a big destructive war. "Everybody's Happy Now" is something they routinely say in that future, and they mean it! It's just a story of course. I think China is headed that way.

One of the biggest jokes! In order to launch the Kosovo war against the euro, the United States deployed military bases in Europe, controlled European countries, decomposed French telecommunications companies, sanctioned Airbus, and provoked relations between EU countries to prevent Europe from becoming strong. The United States only regards European countries as watchdogs, but the EU has to pay for its own troops. Who saw the watchdog himself buying dog food? European countries really think that the United States and Russia will launch a nuclear war? wake up! The diplomat’s wife can escape to the country by driving a dead person. How can human rights be said? These European countries are helping the United States to scream and ask China to respect the human rights of Hong Kong. However, it is not seen how the police in the Western countries treated the violence of the demonstrators. If there is no human rights, can these demonstrators harm the armed police? Sometimes we really doubt the IQ of Westerners. Have you been brainwashed by the media? Are journalists and lawyers and students born to be God? They must not make mistakes? There must be no interest to drive? Poor gang of mentally handicapped.

Haowen Wang - That's the beauty of it, you don't need a qualification, every person on earth has a perspective and an interpretation and an opinion, an evaluation and an aesthetic judgement, including those that have been brought up in the Chinese school system. Is CZcams available in China? Free exchange of information? LOL. So, yes, anybody can say anything. Freedom of speech, baby. Isn't that a beautiful thing? A right to a perspective and an interpretation and an opinion, an evaluation and an aesthetic judgement, without asking permission from those handing out "qualifications". Or do you feel that we need to ask your permission? LOL.

CPC is representing the common interest of the masses therefore under current political system, there is no such need for an opposition party in China. Any self proclaimed opposition party will be standing in the opposite side of history and Chinese people.
However, there's political consultation process with various parties in China as well as democratic system within the government and CPC for selection of policy and candidate. Managing a state like China must not through western style political system, but a political system that is purely home grown.

They're mad they have largely failed at instigating internal conflict in the asian region so they can sell their weapons and profit off of conflict to feed their military industrial complex where the govt uses taxpayer money to pay for $1200 mugs. Although China's economy is growing rapidly, it is mainly due to the diligence of the Chinese people.
