This is a walkthrough of the tamagotchi Gen 1 and Gen 2 that were released by Bandai America on 30 September 2018. Enjoy! :)

I saw the gen 1 at Gamestop! Of course, I wanted one! I'd always wanted one as a child, but circumstances didn't allow. My childhood excitement welled up seeing them on the shelf. "I'm the adult decisions now!" I thought to myself. They had only 3 color choices, but the red glitter with yellow accents looked just right. Now my little blob is 3 days old. I found an old lanyard to put it on so the little fella is always with me. Huzzah for childhood dreams being realized no matter how old you are!

I know that’s 3 years ago, but that’s exactly what happened to me! I went to GameStop in 2018 and I saw tamagotchis and thought the same thing! I even got the same design!
I was in Walmart with my mom back in 1998 or 99 I only had to ask twice 🎉 lucky me

My galaxy one just came in yesterday - the screen is a bit dim, but it might be the batteries that came with it.
I'm getting the tie dye gen 2 one. Hoping they'll redo connections because being able to interact with others was fun

I bought my Gen1 and Gen2 at Best Buy. I couldn't find them in any other store. I do like them better than the 90s versions. The buttons respond much quicker.

Void Alone what’s the different between gen 1 , v1 and p1 ?
@Void Alone they are like original ones, with basic functions like feed, turn on/off lights, game (different in p1 and p2), medical treatment when it gets sick, clean poop, check status to know that your Tama needs and discipline when it deserves, in this re release they made the raise part a little bit tricky than the original so you'll keep busy by tryin to raise your Tama, is a middle point between the 20th anniversary and the connections, still fun to play but less demanding,
@@suktoescom15 gen 1 is the same than P1 witch means programation 1 that refers to the first evolution line, the first mini game, the first game over screen and the first set of icons for the menu, V1 or simply Tamagotchi connection refers to the first Tamagotchi connection that came out, this doesn't have the suffuxe "V1" due to there wasn't other versions then, the suffixe is applied from the V2 and subsequents programations releases.

Wanted to thank you for this. It helped me remember which generation I had back in the late 90's so I could buy that. Got hit with the nostalgia wave and bought a black and silver gen 2.

I think I might buy one of these for myself later, but so far the 'colorful characters', galaxy, and yellow/blue shells are my favorites!

Awesome video! I didnt even know they rereleased these until the other day, I ordered a P1 from Barnes and Noble but it said random color, and I'm glad I got a see thru blue pretty plain one because it reminds me of back when I was a kid. But that Galaxy one is incredible I need to find that Galaxy P2 version to add to my collection!

Oooh, looks like you got unlucky because I bought the galaxy tama and it sounds okay, I didn’t knew the chains were plastic I better be careful. I also noticed that these tama runs faster and respond better than the 90’s one when I played them both, maybe it’s just me.
You're absolutely right! They are so much more responsive compared to the vintage ones :D

@@AtlanticRaven actually i've ran these tamas before, they don't die if you feed them snacks, they just get fatter and doesn't let you get the good evolutions (plus you can feed them snacks as babies since it doesn't affect the evolution or weight) only the game boy tamas die quickly if you feed them snacks.

I got those same two shells. I couldn't resist the galaxy one. As far as the sound goes, the sound is transmitted differently from the originals; instead of being through a wire soldered to the sound chip, they're transmitted through a pair of coils. If your sound seems off, I recommend taking it apart from the back and seeing if the coils are bent or otherwise out of place.

I bought the Neon Green Gen 1 and the white shell with red hearts Gen 2 last week. So happy about both and I'm almost 32 haha
As a child of the 1990's I was only interested in the Giga Pets as really I had no real knowledge about the tamagotchi's despite Giga Pets being released around the same time but now as a 33 year old I feel like now more then ever is it time to explore the life of a tamagothchi. I'm planning on getting into this hype.

I know how to activate the sound and system test on both.
Sound test: A + C + RESET
There are 17 sounds you can play.
System test: B + C + RESET
Press A, then B, then C. Then it will tell you what version it is running. Then there is numbers, just wait a while then the numbers will then appear on the black box above. Then press a to go back to play mode.

Notice how the re-release versions’ beeps sound a little different than the original, albeit very similar. Also, the start minigame sound is a bit faster. Besides, I have the Purple/Pink P1 and Colorful Leopard P2.

Maybe it’s because I have the Gen 1 & Gen 2 special SDCC 2018 exclusive Tamagotchis but the chains on mine are metal. I love the metallic look of the convention exclusive ones, more than most of the regular new shells. That said the Galaxy shell you have is awesome! I’m so happy Tamagotchi is back. My childhood!!

I got the black and silver one, about to open it now thanks for the informative video it helped a lot for what I’m in store for. Try the Digimon X Tama’s I just got my first yesterday, and got a second on the way. You can battle with them also pretty neat🤙🏻

Hi ! I have a question - does your Tamagotchi Galaxy Gen 2 also has problems with contrast ? Because in mine pixels are little faded when I'm looking on it at 90 ° and it gets better when I tilt my tamagotchi a little bit to the back.
I have a older sister and she had a tamagotchi that connected to others tamagotchi toys they don’t have that anymore but I found these types of tamagotchis in a store and I have one it’s really cute,

I've just bought the Gen 1 Sprinkle shell design! I'm so excited!!!!!!!
My P1 came with a metal ball chain. The screen looks quite dim unless I hold it at the right angle. not sure if they’re all like this or just mine. I think they could have added a backlight this day and age. I know it’s supposed to be an exact reproduction but I don’t think a light would have taken away from that much.

i got one at walmart today!! its a gen 2 and has blue plaid and flowers :) i got the gen 2 because the angel thing at the end made me sad as a kid and i like how they go back to their home planet and the whole alien dynamic

Hi, i still have a gen 1 tama but I did find the speaker wonky, also after non-use for a while dead, it seems to be constantly resetting. It's not the slowing down beep but just 1 long beeeeeep like pressing A and C but it's just sat in a drawer or next to me or in my hand.
I have a tamagotchi gen 2 its a glittery moon one and so far its so fun to play with!❤❤

It's great that you did them side by side. Very helpful! I ended up ordering the pacman version but I am still thinking of ordering one of these as well. Although they are quite expensive here. Around 45 euros.

I got the gen 2 after I saw it in the gift shop but it’s expensive. Got it for 41 dollars, there was another mini version that was green in colour and it cost 21.

@@seasons1146 i have the 2nd generation! any of them are pretty good although they look different and may have different mini games. you’ll have to compare them and see which one u like the most

Each day equals one year in tama time, so five years old means it’s been alive for five days
do the different characters have different personalities like does some of them got to bed early or need to eat more or is more naughty?
Yes, some stay in one spot on the screen, some move around a lot, one of the bad care tamas is too skinny so it does early and gets sick more often.
Does this version breed to have babies or do they just die and have to restart? Also if they do breed, does the matchmaker make a surprise appearance or can you connect and breed with another tamagotchi if you have two??
There's no breeding in this one like the Connection series. It's a rerelease of the old original models from the 90's.

You must keep the weight at around 80-89 then they wil survive. I tested this for many times and I finally got mametchi

Ok, mine is confusing because mine does not have the same packaging, it has the logo and stuff but mine only says “series 3”, so and I have not seen anything like it, maybe it’s a bit newer and just different? Idk.
Im not sure how well these were promoted but i heard nothing about these, or the new giga pets from last year! the ones that came out in 2017, the remake of the tamagotchi mini, those were all over everywhere, heavily promoted, but i heard nothing about these newer releases!
