This is far and away my favorite gun channel.
Same!
I agree. I don't understand why he doesn't have more subs.
Agreed!

@@dunravin Keep the gun channel…it’s awesome! Change your firearm ownership status. The world needs you, brother!
Thank you, Mr. Harrell, from someone that carries a 38 Special.
I agree. He showed that a .38 special revolver is still a very capable option- and is one of my favorites!
Check out his survival in the wilderness stuff. If I recall correctly, he had a pack of poptarts and a canteen of water one cold wet night in the dark land of Oregon.
"Real Experts" carry MRE's and eat freshly killed warthogs.
Our young man Paul carries a granola bar and a pop tart.
i’ve tried carrying different side arms; 92F, G23, G17, 1911, Taurus G2C, others, and i’ve always come back to my.38 snubby. :)
Everything from a powder puff load to stuff that rivals any 9mm ever made--easily--the 38 special is probably one of the best rimmed handgun cartridges ever made, for many reasons. Magnums are cool and all, but they are brutal.
I carried an issued .38 for the first 20 years of my 30 yr career, was forced to use it more than once to defend myself (reloaded under fire in one case) & it worked. In retirement I pocket carry a J Frame. I still qualify annually for LEOSA (Law Enforcement Safety Act) with a 9MM & Model 60 snub. I score mid 90s w/either weapon but the J Frame is MUCH easier to carry.

Paul just dropped a video!
I love it when Paul kicks off with a killer headshot. Two extremely similar products with marketing setting up one with a inflated price. Thanks for letting us understand when we are being ripped off and please get well soon 🥰
Was thinking the same. Hole appears, i think "Damn, remind me to never make Paul mad at me! O.o"
The old phrase "BOOM Headshot!" comes to mind.
stop the pity comments
Yep, they just tack on that "High Terminal Performance" as a marketing ploy just like the "tactical" label on everything from cans of soup to stealth bombers. Obviously they wouldn't use such marketing if it didn't work on at least a portion of consumers, so yes, there be easily swayed people among us. I am still quite disappointed that my "tactical" flashlight is no brighter than my plain old Maglite though.
@@billybones1694 Doesn´t the "tactical" on flashlights mean that it fits on guns?
But hey, at least you didn´t order a "tactical fleshlight" on accident XD
@@sim.frischh9781 🤣🤣🤣 Not necessarily. Not anymore at least, though in theory any flashlight can fit on any firearm if you want it to bad enough. The same way any engine can fit in any vehicle if you have the money and/or time and skills to make it happen.
Hey Paul! Thank you for all that you do to promote the safe and lawful exercise of the Second Amendment!
Love the videos sir, you are an American icon, treasure, and hero!
Have to agree. We need more people showing people how to be safe and lawful. It may not be as entertaining as blowing stuff up but its important.
Big ditto!
"An Hero", as we say on the Interwebs. :)
So the "high terminal performance" isn't in the rounds, its in Remington's bank balance.
Lol high terminal profits
Nickel plating does technically improve extraction, but it's not like there's many revolvers which will struggle with extracting regular brass .38 Special
Agreed, that’s exactly what it’s about. 👍👌
Bingo.
I've yet to see a test of Remington HTP ammunition that has made the ammunition look *decent*, let alone *good*.
"Terminal" performance? Yeah, they stick it to the shooter in the end!
Thank you for putting out such quality videos. No begging for subscriptions, likes, buying merchandise, etc. As it should be.
No request for “likes” because Paul puts out videos really worthy of “likes.” Viewers commentary just adds to value and calls for more.
I would like to see a comparison between Paul's meat target vs the ballistic lab dummies everyone else uses.
Good ask. You know the meat target was born to set himself apart from "everyone else" that uses ballistic jell.
It would be a pretty hard video to make, as those ballistic gel dummies (with bone and simulated organs and whatnot) cost many thousands of dollars
I think Paul was the pioneer of the ballistic lab dummy, except using real meat and fruit. First, everyone was using worthless ballistic gelatin but Paul was replicating clothed human torsos.
No testing medium will be perfect
For example, with the meat target, dead meat doesn't behave the same as living meat, same with bones. The meat target is a point of differentiation over other firearms channels. It's nowhere near perfect, but more it does present more data to draw from, which I appreciate greatly. And regardless, one can't let perfect be the enemy of good enough.
Those ballistic torsos cost $2000 each if anyone was wondering.
I really like ammunition comparisons. Thanks for making them Paul.
Anyone else driving nuts that .38 special/.357 magnum prices still haven't dropped since 2020?
Since the dollar is worth significantly less, what're you surprised about?
Yeah, it sucks big time. 9mm and .22 have come down some, but almost all others are still high. But then i work a store that has high ammo prices.
@@jamesmclaughlin9984 what boggles my mind is I will see certain calibers/brand set ups being offered at a price I go, this stuff is either really really good or really really bad for that price
.357 magnum was almost a dollar a round before. 38 special wasn't far behind that.
Now .357 magnum is 40 cents per round at the lowest, and 38 Special is about 31 cents per round at the lowest.
That's why I set up to hand load them
Hope you're doing well, thanks for the upload.
Mr. Harrell,
Thank you for creating this channel.
I absolutely love the Pop-Tarts intros
Awesome way to conclude the weekend on high note! Thanks Paul!
Sure is. I spent the weekend replacing my washing machine only to find out the new one is defective. Back to Lowes tomorrow.
Gotta love that PopTart intro.
what does it mean!!!???
Love the ammo comparisons keeps me from buying garbage.
Hey Paul hope you’re well. Cheers sir 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
We all love our dear Paul
Sounds very much to me that the only real difference other than the cartridge case material and the marketing team’s box design is that one of these is WAAY overpriced! Great work, sir. Thank you.
Paul you have the best show on CZcams. Praying for a speedy recovery.
Big hug, from Brazil! 👍
So basically, the two ammunitions are effectively identical apart from the green and yellow box having nickel-plated casings, which may be advantageous for some people who need more corrosion resistance.
Thank you. I concur.
The pop tarts intro is the best thing ever!
Always quality content from this gentleman
Paul you still do a fantastic job of illuminating viewers to Reality in Firearms, and ammunition. Countless thanks for sharing the Truth with us all. 👍👍 10⭐

Love the ever changing pop tart back drop!!
Thanks Paul, I am old school and I carry .38 regular wadcutters. Snubnose revolver for my home, or personal defensive mindset, I do not plan on engaging or shooting past 10ft.
Thanks Paul, you always do a great job and we out here appreciate & enjoy your work for us!!
I've always found your ammo comparisons interesting, entertaining and informative Paul.
Paul, Very nicely done. I love these comparisons. Yes, I do watch every part, even the "boring" parts. Which I don't find boring.
Every time I go out, I bring a box of poptarts. Started because I like them but now I do it in solidarity!
Probably only okay to eat if you are starving to death, emaciated. The processed white sugar content in them is a no-go for a healthy human being, or someone trying to improve their health from obesity, heart disease, type II diabetes, yada yada; it should *never* appear on the menu.
Thanks for testing these rounds, Paul. I can find the HTP locally, but I’ll have to search online for the green and white box. 👍👍👍👍
I had a pack of pop tarts in my hand when I clicked on the video 😂
A+ This was helpful and a good use of time.Thank you.
Paul, I could swear I’ve seen all of your videos, but I can’t remember how the pop tarts came into the mix. I love it, but it drives me crazy that I missed the back story. Really enjoy your work.
We will see if we can get him to do a "why I love Poptarts" segment. It is an old story and a play on old cigarette ads.
It happened suddenly, no explanation really given except with Paul's own words in the comments section a time or two. It is well known by the viewers that Paul likes Pop-Tarts and has had them in his survival pack (because they're ready to eat, high calorie, high energy). The real parody that is lost on many is that the segment is based on the old Camel "where a man belongs" cigarette print ads from the 1970s featuring the man, the legend, Bob Beck.
I think he named the Camel Cigarette Guy in another video, maybe one of the FAQ videos
I would walk a mile for a pop tart
Just made my day. Very interesting comparison. Thank you.
Great video. As someone who carries revolvers most of the time, IWB most of the time, and works a sweaty job in a hot environment most of the time, the nickel plated casings are MUCH more resistant to corrosion. Brass casings start turning colors within days, whereas nickel can stay new-looking seemingly forever. Doesn't seem to affect reliability at all, but it is what it is.
Thanks Paul.
bro's got bottomless pockets. can't wait for him to reveal he's been concealed carrying an M249 since 2016.
A tedious Paul Harrell ammo comparison video is many times more interesting and entertaining than most of what the rest of CZcams has to offer.
Of all the people I follow, always excited to see when a new one from you is uploaded...
Your 638 shoots like my Mosin. Aim point bottom of the target, impacts near the top.
Appreciate the content, always methodical and informative.
Remember the Mosin sights are set for having the bayonet in place.
I know, and using a sight tool I have been able to "zero" the windage off set. However the front site post doesn't allow for elevation adjustments.
The only tips I've seen are, aim low. Or add wire insulation over the post and trim it down. For me, aiming lower has been easier than finding the wire to cover the post.
Not about to buy a whole spool, when all I need is a 8th inch section.
Piece of brass hobby tubing works, few dollars for 1 foot section.
I'll keep ya posted if I find some, and the results.
Great info! Also a lot of folks will argue that nickel plated cases will have less sticky extraction.
It's not a argument it's a fact they are less sticky
I have never minded a sticky extraction.
@@henryrodgers1752😂
It will, but it's not enough difference to make a difference for a gun and load like this.
Americans be like how many semi-precious metals can we stick on our bullets?
Mr. Harrell, hopefully your day

Thanks for another informative video. Looking forward to many more
My primary pistol is a Rock Island Armory M200. This is very useful and practical knowledge for me personally. i would and do watch all Paul Harrell presentations just because he is simply the best. Most other u tube gun guru's i watch when it relates to me. Paul Harrell is like having Aristotle as your line coach!
Ditto
I remember when I was a teenager, long time ago, the policemen in my town carried revolvers and their belts had those bullet loops on them and they always had the cartridges with the shiny nickel cases. Can you imagine being in a shootout and having to reload by pulling each round out of its loop one at a time?
I guess that's where training and tactics come into play.
Some years ago, I watched a practical revolver match at my local gun club.
It was easy to spot the competitor who was a police marksman / champion and not just a keen amateur sport shooter like the rest.
He was the only one who paused behind cover when reloading. He still won the match, of course.
Very informative as usual. BTW, last week I bought three 12 packs of POP TARTS for $2,49 each. A great comfort/camping snack.
I shoot 110 grain in my S&W Airweight so it shoots more towards the point of aim.
Lot's of great info. Thanks
Thanks for another informative and interesting video man!! You're awesome!
Good to see you out again enjoying the outdoors!
Thank you much Paul, good test always enjoy your videos!!!!
Outstanding AF!! Thanks for the info Mr. Harrell , eagerly awaiting the next installment!!
Thanks for another great presentation.
As always informative and entertaining thank you Paul
Am a long time subscriber and greatly enjoy your videos. One of the best features of you videos are your numerous and enlightening explanations of what you plan to do and what has actually happened. Your repetitions of same in no way diminish their value, or the video's enjoyment for me. This is valuable for those with wide firearm experience and those with very little. (proud to say I have never skipped ahead to you standing next to the numbers)
Any video by Paul is like winning a prize. :) Paul is a veritable cornucopia of great info. Thanks Paul for all you do.

I love it.
I’d take Paul with a BB gun and I have a sling shot in a real surviving situation!!
Thank you Paul 👊🏼
Thank you for taking the time & effort to carefully compare the attributes of these different 38Sp ammos in the appropriate 1 7/8" barrels.
Always good information before purchasing ammo. Thank you Paul.
Locally the availability of green & white is usually worse than green & yellow, which is disappointing.
Some of us really do use 38 Special in 4" barrels, so it would be nice to see some of these tests with that.
Thank you, Paul. Another great video.
Thank you Paul for the solid content.
Something as simple as comparing two types of very similar ammo. I not only learn that the differences are mostly marketing for price, Which I have come to learn about a lot of products. I also get to wake up to a clear, calm, relaxing video about something of importance.
Paul you are a great guy! REAL professional, great attitude in all your videos, great character.
I love everything abot this channel.
Another great job. Thank you.
I carry a 38 special daily. So I greatly appreciate your channels growing collection of good informative 38 special videos. My carry load is Remington HTP 38 special +p 158 grain LSWCHP. Thanks again Paul for a great channel!
At the beginning you said “no you haven’t won a prize” to newer members yet truthfully, any time you post a new video, we all win.
👍👍Thanks Paul, always wondered if there was a difference. Thanks for clearing that up.
Another great video, and great review on common ammo that’s still available. I love the semi jacketed hollowpoints, they’re actually my preferred ammo to carry when I can find it. The velocities on some of these were all over the board with the green and yellow..
who else gives Paul's videos a thumbs up in the first 5 seconds?!?! :)
Of course. I already know it will be informative and enjoyable as well as repeatable, falsifiable and verifiable. Others may prefer more flash in the pan but Mr. Harrell just fits my mind better. Is he the best for honesty, integrity and straight talking? You be the judge.
Great presentation back in the 50s and 60s into the 70s about all we could get around here was white box Winchester and green and yellow box Remington. The Remington ammo shot very well and the price was fairly equal.
A great comparo, Paul. Thanks !

During watching the video one thought popped up in my head and was "I wish he would tell us where he is aiming." Thank you for pointing it out during the vid. Small example that helps us, the viewers, at least for me, to understand better the dynamics of shooting a gun.
Thanks, Paul! Nice video!
Thanks Paul!
Good work as always, Paul, thanks. I've had good luck with +P 110's out of snubbies. A file got it printing where aimed.
Paul I just want to thank you for all your videos. You are by far the most informative channel I have ever seen. Thanks for all your knowledge and your humor while doing it. And I will never ask you to compare a AR15 and AK47. Thanks again
The j-frame is tricky. As Paul stated, matching the ammo to the gun is important to POI vs POA. Yes, it is nice if you can get those two close. My particular gun shoots a 158gr HP Hornady lead bullet pretty much where I aim. I load my own ammo. The chronograph says it is doing 848fps on average. The lead is not hard cast. It is pretty soft. I will guess it is somewhere in the cowboy action shooting range of 12 in hardness. I used a dead feral hog day old cadaver I found on the ranch for my meat test. At about 15 yds (stepped off distance) the bullets expanded like crazy. About penetration was about 12" average. On a 175lb hog, shooting the shoulder at a bit of an angle to get it to hit the ribs on the off side after traveling through the shoulder, it did well. For a defensive purpose, close range, which the snub nose guns are, it did OK.
My point, again, use a bunch of different ammo to find the POI vs POA for your j-frame that gives you what you want.
When I was a kid, my dad tried to kill a fat heifer with a his .38. I'll never forget it; It took several shots.
@@troy3456789 Was he shooting it in the head? It should have worked fine.
I uses 110 grain Winchester Silver Tips for my wife, reduced recoil and hits to point of aim at 10 yards.

@@Hjerte_Verke Sounds delicious! I will check in past videos to get that. Thanks for the info.
38 Special is great. May not be the most powerful by any means, but is a classic!
The idea of leaving no brass behind in a combat/self defense situation seems attractive to me, and I'm not sure why. I like the smooth back and no exposed hammer, but the low capacity reduces my interest in it.
It's powerful enough to be useful, regular loads are a notch below the average 9mm Luger load, but +P loads of .38 Special easily go above.
There's lifetimes of anecdotes of .38 Special doing a good job, and with the last few decades there's a lot of very good defensive loads which improve it.
It's antiquated, over priced and under performing.
@0neDoomedSpaceMarine standard pressure 9mm Luger is more powerful than +p .38 and it still barely functions with JHP are you talking about.
