Make your own Goomba Plush

- TEMPLATE: www.flickr.com/photos/83280654... uses a better foot design than I show in the video. If you want to make it even better you could add an oval-shaped base for the feet, in light brown or orange felt, but I didn't do this here because it wasn't covered in the tutorial. Enjoy! (added on 19/8/13)
Ever wanted to make you own goomba plush? There was a popular suggestion that I should make a tutorial showing how to do it all - and here it is! I've given some measurements here, but if you want a different-sized goomba, you could multiply all the lengths by some number. (Be warned though that a goomba double this size will take much longer to make, and would take 8 times as much stuffing!)
If you make a goomba from this tutorial, you could make a short video showing the finished product, and I'll accept it as a video response :)
GETTING FELT: You can find felt in most arts and crafts stores.
REQUESTS: If you have a request for a future plush tutorial, please leave a comment and I probably won't reply, but I WILL make a note of your request.
A surprising number of people have written asking for me to send a goomba to them - needless to say, this video exists simply to give people the instructions to make their own goomba, and so I will not be giving away or selling any which I have made. - Jak na to + styl
Partly yes, but it's more because the name makes a goomba sound threatening - and no goomba stands a chance of being threatening!
It's just me making this particular video, but for the plush videos I also have my sister helping. We usually put the camera on a stand. We will be making more videos - the mushroom tutorial should be ready this weekend and then there will be more in July. And the spelling 'color' is American - I'm British which is why I spell it 'colour' :)
No, they were prizes on a stall at a theme park, but I recommend searching eBay for similar ones.
They're from a site called mfgg - there's a link to this site in the descriptions of all the plush videos.
They're from a site which is mentioned in the description of all my videos except these sewing tutorials. (I can't post links in comments).
Yes, I'm going to make the mushroom tutorial! I don't know when it'll be ready (at least two weeks from now, probably more), but I'll be working on it whenever I have a spare moment.
Filming is under way for the next video, so it should be ready in about a week, hopefully! The mushroom tutorial will be out a few weeks after that.
Sure, I'm accepting video responses on any home-made Mario plushes, so feel free to post it if you'd like to.
Just do exactly this but halve all the measurements. That'll give you one the size of my small one.
7:02 "be generous with him after stuffing"
Just like you :)
I know, I've made a note of it. I don't usually reply to requests because it would take a lot of time, but I haven't ignored you, don't worry :)
@TheBlackoppsfan Early next month. We're hoping to make a plush video in early April, and then also the mushroom tutorial later in the month.
Probably August, because I'm planning to release a plush adventure first.
I've filmed and I'm currently arranging the video clips, but I haven't recorded any audio yet. Exams are getting in the way now, so I'm not sure when I'll be finished. For me, making these tutorials takes a lot less time than making a plush video anyway!
@supermario10033 Press the (CC) button and you can translate the subtitles into any language - very useful!
Of course - if you wanted one a little bigger, just multiply all the lengths by a certain amount. This goomba would be about 13-14 cm in height, so to get 20cm you can multiply all the lengths by about 1.5. So the first head measurement would be 15cm not 10cm. Also, it'll need about 3 times more stuffing.
I don't have templates for the goomba, mushroom or star, but I've given instructions on how to make the shapes yourself anyway. I'm thinking of compiling a mushroom template soon due to popular demand, and afterwards I might go on to the others.
I will be making the mushroom one at some point, and Toad is very similar.
You're welcome - that's the reason why I make subtitles!
Just so everyone knows: if you make a nice goomba from this tutorial, you could make a short video showing it (just a few seconds will do, enough to see the whole finished goomba) and I'll accept it as a video response so people can see what you made.
I made the design myself using my big goomba to help with the template.
@SuperAwesomeLocoLPS Yes, I will - a lot of people have said they'd like to see it. I will be making it for early April. I know it's a couple of months away but I'm being realistic :)
Keep at it!
I've made one now actually, and the link to it is in the description!
i made this when i was small, the nostalgia hits me hard
This is one of my most favorite plush tutorials on CZcams
@legonatoroc122 Make a Notepad file for text formatted exactly like this; the times are for the start and finish of the caption (hour:min:sec.millisec)
0:00:00.500,0:00:05.500
Hello, this is Goomzilla, and I'm going to show you how to make your own Goomba plush
0:00:05.500,0:00:09.000
just like the mini one that you've seen in our videos.
Then go on "Video Manager", click the arrow next to "Edit", then "Captions", then "Add New Captions or Transcript" and upload that caption file :)
@eejay30 I had an hour of film footage, plus about another hour or two of work I did off-camera, so it took maybe three hours in total. I can sew fairly quickly, so perhaps add another hour or two on if you haven't sewn much before and it that's just four or five hours, if you don't get distracted. It's not too long really. I'm not making them to sell; they're instructions so people can make one themselves.
If you want a goomba then you'll be willing to spend the fabric for it! :) but if you're finding it difficult you could try my star tutorial- that's an easier one designed for beginners.
Eventually, but Whacka will be done first (tomorrow) and Yoshi soon too, because I've been saying I'd do a Yoshi tutorial for a couple of months now.
I love your tutorials. I made a Bone Goomba and a Jack O' Goomba from your tutorials (for jack o goomba, I used your mushroom tutorial) and many more!
That's not a bad idea... I might try that one eventually!
who are you talking to in the comments?
I remember making this with my mom thanks fro the memories 😂
You have a lot of home-made plushes - really colourful too! I particularly like that goomba beneath Luigi, and the lumas. And that lakitu is really well-made for something so complicated! Did you use any instructions when you made it or did you do all of that yourself?
Not intentionally, it's just that I didn't have any light brown felt! And orange isn't too bad a colour choice.
I could, but I wouldn't be able to make it for a while. I'd recommend searching on CZcams for e.g. "blanket stitch" or "ladder stitch" to see if there are any good tutorials. (I've had a quick search and I noticed that my blanket stitch seems to be done in a quicker way than other videos show, but with the same outcome). I might mention stitches in with the mushroom tutorial, but for now it'd be best to see if there are already some good guides out there.
It's any size you like- you can resize it as you wish and print it off!
I'm making it right now, but it probably won't be ready for another couple of days. Perhaps Monday. We'll see!
My star tutorial isn't a bad place to start learning - I go through the basic stitches there :)
You should be able to find all the materials in an arts and crafts shop, but if you don't know any nearby you could search online through Google or Amazon.
can u make a koopa troopa plush?
Silvies101 THATS advance
YES PLEASE I love the Koopa troopa
That would be both awesome and extremely difficult. but then again he did make a yoshi so maybe he could make a smaller koopa troopa.
Wy
ye id use it on my channel
Goomzilla, I must say that I love your plush tutorials.
If you want, but it can be difficult to fix those on and they probably won't look as good as felt would.
If you use a red body instead of cream, change an expression, add a belt to the body, and boom! Gaijin Goombah!
Hmmmm
That's not a bad idea; maybe I'll try that some time.
Compared to a goomba, it would be very difficult to sew - not impossible, but I'd rather release some easier tutorials first. I don't plan to make a Yoshi any time soon, if ever.
I didn't make it, but if you want one that size you could multiply all the measurements by about 1.5
@culinario0 I made it up. When I was making the small one, I just looked at my big goomba to see all the pieces it was made up of, then cut out some felt and it worked out fine. A bit of past experience in making stuffed toys also helped - for example, in sewing on one side and then turning it inside out. And what do you mean by the paper being "plushy"?
8 hours isn't bad really - you can do that in a day. How long did it take you to make this goomba? Plus I'd be interested to see that Lakitu you made - would you like to post a video response showing it?
@lobo1999x Any stuffing should be fine. I recommend softer stuffing if you have a choice, because the finished plush feels better that way.
@goomba771 I haven't tried it before, so I don't really know. Sewing's not difficult anyway, so I'd recommend sewing if you have a choice.
I'm considering making a Yoshi one, but that won't be for at least a couple of months if I do make one.
@sonicmariokirbylink They are pretty similar - just the mushroom is a bit rounder. After all, goombas are mushrooms!
I made a Goomba Plush using your directions and instead of felt, I used colored paper and instead of using thread, I used tape. I have to say it turned out pretty good.
i really love the plushies you made especially the goombas. and love your vids. keep up the good work!
Yeah, just cut out some wings and sew them onto the back at around 5:32 in the video.
At 5:32, Got it
@culinario0 It's not paper, it's felt. You can get it from any art shop.
Mine was from a store called Hobbycraft, but it's UK only as far as I know. Most arts and crafts shops should sell it.
Thank for making this tutorial. I finally get to make my own goomba!
Nice goomba plush goomzilla that was so great can you make other plush tutorial plz
thank you so much, also could you try to make a bowser plush
pls do a yoshi egg plush video since you have one in yoshi and the lost egg, oh wait, did you already make a video like that?
You need to make a plushy tutorial on the full size goomba! That would be so cool.
Just search for whatever sounds you're looking for. Have a look around and it should be clear.
I remember watching this as a little kid and always wanting to do it but never being able to get the materials
@legolover303 Any arts and crafts shop will do - there's a good one called Hobbycraft but I think that's a UK shop only.
@Trainmasters237 It might be easiest to buy a Bowser Jr rather than make one, because he's a bit bigger than a goomba and has lots of little parts like the spikes on his shell - those would take forever to sew on by hand.
@aderz1200 My sister helps with the plush videos. You know, I wouldn't be able to make them without her :)
@TheBlackoppsfan I'm not sure of the name yet, but even so I prefer to keep the plot to myself. You'll see eventually...
Congratulations on getting 11,000 subscribers!
My friends and I loved these 8 years ago! Thanks!
Spot on old chap.
In about 3 to 4 weeks' time. A plush video will be out first.
Yay it worked thank you!! I'll have fun and make a video responce soon!!
@lovepink906 I could do, but I thought I'd leave it for you to have a go at. It's easy if you have a Toad to copy from.
I'd prefer Mario ones - just because they're more relevant to this video.
Make a fire/ice flower please! :)
you are right!
I wonder how you can make additions to the goomba and turn it into a Spiky Goomba or a Paragoomba or maybe Goombario.
We’ve just seen the birth of Goomfrey! Also nice video!
Thanks goomzilla I just made my very own goomba and whaka plushes I'm so happy!!
CyberLink PowerDirector, but if you want something free I recommend VideoPad.
Just finished making a micro goomba plush from super mario odyssey using this tutorial looks great highly recommended 👌👍
@MaRtInEz74100 She would be more difficult because of all the different parts. It would probably be easiest to get one without making her yourself.
Omg I was only a kid when I watched this. This was the video that got me into sewing
thanks for this! Would you mind if i were to use this design in one of my videos? I really want to, but i guess i should ask you first.
I will be making some goombas one day, but I'm not so sure when.
Thank you very much for making subtitles! I'm Italian, and my English listening isn't very good... Now I want to have my own Goomba plush!
This really helps but I'm terrible at craft. I might try this!
Do you have people helping you out? Because I see lots of hands. So, are you? I hope you make more because your so cool and my brother showed this to me. So, do you like tape a recorder to the back of the thing? Because i think it's pretty cool. YOUR SO AWESOME!
Two tutorials you should do-
1) Shy Guy
2) Bob-Omb
The quality of your voice constantly kept changing.
If there also were tutorials for Koopa (Para)Troopas and Shy Guys, I could change them a bit to create the elite trio (Private Goomp, Korporal Paraplonk and Sergeant Guy).
I made a goomda plush(of your instructions) for my mom. It turned out nice!
@JUSTUS1593 Amazon is a good place to look, or eBay.
Make a Notepad file for text formatted exactly like this; the times are for the start and finish of the caption (hour:min:sec.millisec)
0:00:00.500,0:00:05.500
Hello, this is Goomzilla, and I'm going to show you how to make your own Goomba plush
0:00:05.500,0:00:09.000
just like the mini one that you've seen in our videos.
And so on.
Then go on "Video Manager", click the arrow next to "Edit", then "Captions", then "Upload Captions or Transcript" and upload that caption file :)
@SteelXawesome That's the spirit! ;)
I memorised the pattern ❤
Such a good goomba plush
@MarioFanAidan That's lucky!
I'm also happy you used International System values (as meter, kilogram...) instead of traditional English units, like inch, or feet... As a mainlander, I don't understand them!
