      Hi..I read your reply..did you have to seal the stone after you cleaned it? I live in area with hard water and it's starting to get water stains on the black stone..

    • @arellanobustos76
      @arellanobustos76 Před 4 lety +4

      Sandra Mitchell So sorry Sandra! I just saw this reply! I am super late responding! I didn’t use anything to seal the stone. After watching this video and reading their site to not use any household oils or waxes...I stick strictly with this product. When I talked with them, they advised me to clean my Dads headstone quarterly. My Dads headstone was placed on his grave just a few months when I found this product. Since my Dads headstone was new, I kept it up and literally cleaned it quarterly. The hard water still leaves the white build up and its dull after awhile...but I will bring this cleaner with me when I know it’s been sitting for awhile without a cleaning. His headstone doesn’t have build up like this headstone used in video, so one bottle lasted me a year. Hope this helps!

      They are correct you should never use acid base cleaners on Marble, Limestone and Sandstone or any kind of surface you are unsure what it is and what it's made of. We have never had a problem when using an acid base cleaner correctly on Granite and if you have any concerns or questions always contact a local Monument dealer or give us a call we are happy to help.

      The Sparks Brick and Tile cleaner and Muriatic acid will not hurt a GRANITE headstone

    This seems like so much work. D2 and water seems to be easier and fast.

      This is actually a very easy process! D2 isn't made to get ride of hard water. D2 targets algae and other natural growths. Sparks and The CleanStone is the best solution for removing hard water off of granite headstones.

    This is NOT for antique neadstones.

      The acid based stuff would just eat away at old white marble stones. You need D2 or some equally low ph non abrasive cleaner meant for headstones and monuments.

      Thank you for your comment, if I can muriatic acid and the sparks cleaner will not pit granite but it will pit Marble, Sandstone and Limestone because they are made of the same minerals that you are trying to clean off the stone.
      Now we always recommend you test any cleaning product on a similar or exact piece of what you are cleaning not all rocks are the same and can have the same properties or minerals in them that you are trying to clean off and that will cause damage to the headstone, we have been cleaning headstones for over 60 years and we are happy to answer any question anyone may have.
      Thank you

    The last few years, I have been going to Dollar General and buying the cheapest chlorox and a low priced brisle brush. I pour it on, scrub it a little, then rinse it off it works great and fast on marble and granite to remove that old black mold that accumulates on them after several years. There is no etching and it is several years before the black mold returns.

    My parents have a sorta metal flat stone. What can I use to clean it? My brother & I was just discussing this the other day. We have several other family members that need cleaning. Some stones are made out of brass and some are made of granet. What can we use to clean these stones? Thank you.

      generally you should only do a gentle cleaning of BRONZE as the manufacture will apply a finish to the metal to protect it and contrast with the inscription to make it easier to read. Talk to the marker company first, they will probably tell you do not use metal polish on the marker and use a soft scrub brush, water and ph neutral detergent to remove the surface dirt.

      Use nonionic cleaner, such as Kodak Photo-Flo 200 Solution or D2 headstone cleaner. The D2 is better if you have algae or mold or anything like that. Rinse with pure water and dry very thoroughly then apply a small amount of auto polish and use as directed on the polish label. Synthetic polish with UV inhibitors is best.

      I spoke to the President of D/2 Biological Solutions in NY and he said D/2 would not be efficient on hard water. For our granite headstone's hard water problem he suggested I call the Texas company that sells Sparks so I did and will be ordering that. Have you used both D/2 and Sparks to see one result over the other?

    • @bbaucom2
      @bbaucom2 Před 5 lety +1

      D2 is a biocide. It works great with mold, mildew, algae, lichen, and other headstone issues that are from living organisms on the surface. It is not so great against serious hard water deposits.

    So I can buy a small bottle of muriatic acid and add water and a little soap. Got it. Thanks.

    • @bbaucom2
      @bbaucom2 Před 5 lety

      Make sure the soap is nonionic. Most soaps for household use are not nonionic. I bought some Kodak Photo-Flo 200 Solution off Amazon. You can also buy the Sparks off Amazon.
