"I'll miss you" was always the last dialogue option I chose for Lee to say to Clem. It just felt right, to have Clem know that Lee loved her.
I was watching made in abyss and knew a death was sad, but then when nanachi was slumped on the ground wailing, it broke me. I believe a lot of fiction deaths can really hit you like a train
The only way to end the game
Never had the heart to say anything else. Imagine picking "..." 😱
I tell her “don’t be afraid” I think it plays into how bad ass she gets in season 3 and 4
Every single time.. it's the best choice by far and still hits emotionally. Clementine and Lee's close surrogate relationship just about demands it. In my opinion, anyway. Once selected, they both get to tell each other that they'll miss one another and they both get to HEAR it said to one another. Idk, it's just the perfect choice.
That ending absolutely wrecked me. One of the only games to ever bring an actual tear to my eye.
What about The Last of Us prologue?
@@cyniex3728 Not even close, compare the time you spend in TLOU prologue and the time you spend in The Walking Dead
@@MichaeLP_PL I'm asking if they cried then aswell I wasn't comparing the two
@@cyniex3728 I know, but there is simply no way someone could make an attachment to Sarah that quickly that they would cry when she died, compared to you playing through the entire game with Lee and Clem
@@MichaeLP_PL a lot of people cried on their playthroughs
I have been gifted with an upload in a time of entertainment need.
Same
Thank you lord fuzzyslippers
Don’t be dramatic lol it’s just CZcams
Although it was unfortunate to see Carley killed off, it ultimately made sense for the story to shift focus to Clementine and Lee's relationship.
It would be really sweet and cool to see Lee, Carley, and Clementine as a surrogate family.💙
You can see carley’s dead body in 400 days dlc
@@Omarshaalan44omg really? Which episode?
@@dia8148 bonnie’s episode you will see it on the road
@@dia8148the one with Russel
Just beat the game for the 7th time, still cried even though I’ve played it around 7 times. Best game ever made, best peace of fiction ever made.
facts
Me too.
I cry evertim
best game ever made is pushing it bud...pretty good tho
@@daevidpp445PUSHING IT? Nah bro it’s fucking peak
Everyone loves to praise Last of us. But for me personally The walking dead made bigger impact on me. The story was amazing. Lee and Clementines relationship then kenny and everyone. Then end of season 1 or 2 i think we have to put Lee down that was really tough for me. And even they made game better in final didn't do a rush job. Truly a masterpiece.
I agree. I just prefer Clem's overall story arc over Elly's. It's less pessimistic, and I love how her story comes full circle. I also liked that some cultural tensions were still leftover from before the zombie takeover. It's brought up very rarely and doesn't have a huge impact, but it's a nice touch.
The gameplay is better in tlou. But the story in twd is so much more impactful imo
The last of us gets kinda repetitive after about 5 minutes of gameplay
Play through TWD game with last of us music
Why would you force Clem to kill Lee??? Dont come with that dumbass arbitrary idea that a loved one needs to do it, that concept has zero meaning for Clem and Lee.
I’d love to see your reactions to the sequel seasons and how Clem grows throughout, it’s something that’s special I think
The 1st season is the only good one, the game ended after lee
@@Spaciousfoot while I agree that it got kinda funky after the fact, there was still a lot of passion in the work
@@SpaciousfootSeason 4 is the best one but okay.
@@Spaciousfoot I think season 2 and 4 are really good too.
@@Spaciousfoot S1 is the best not gonna lie.
But S2 and S4 aren't terrible.
Screw S3. No one likes S3.
Especially S4 deserves a lot of love given what it went through.
The walking dead was the game I played that made me realize games could be so much more than just casual games like call of duty and sonic.
It also made me cry like a little girl at the end, but even kings cry
absolutely one of the most emotional games i’ve ever played i think most of us cried a little
Cried a little too
mgs did that in 1998 dude 😂
@@HenriqueRJchiki to be fair I wasn’t even alive in 98. This was the first game I ever played that could not be described as a casual game
casual games like call of duty lol
this game really shaped me as a child. when watching pewdiepie's playthrough back in 2012/13 (i would have been 11 or 12), it was the first story game i'd ever seen, and the first time a game had ever made me cry. since then, i've always been finding joy in watching people's visceral reactions to things. it really made me fall in love with other story games, like life is strange and detroit: become human. i'll never forget what it did for me and how it helped me, an autistic person, develop my emotions and social skills. nowadays, i LOVE watching people play through the game - it's one of my comfort things. i love having it on in the background while im playing cosy games, stuff like that.
I feel the same way, I'm autistic as well
*R.I.P., Lee* That was one of the hardest decisions I've ever made in a game.
The Telltale series is actually set in the Comic continuity. Glenn and Hershel's backstories were actually a bit vague in the comics, with this game simply showing why Hershel's son Shawn is Undead when Rick and Co show up at the farm, and where Glenn came from before making his way to Atlanta, where he eventually meets Rick. And in Season 3/A New Frontier, a Main character of the comics from later in the series, Paul "Jesus" Monroe shows up and accompanies the group of characters in that season, Clementine included, and Final Season has a character named James who's a former member of The Whisperers, a villain group in the comics, and he says he left because they were going to attack a community of survivors, which is either Hilltop or Alexandria, both settlements managed by Rick and the gang. Lilly was actually Retconned to Not be the character from the Comics though. In fact, Lilly Caul, the comic character, is also the protag of a Novel series that's also canon to the comic continuity, while Telltale Lilly would return in Telltale's Final Season and... Changed a lot, to not spoil stuff for anyone out of the loop. Pretty neat honestly. And there's nothing in the Telltale series that's said about the wider world that would contradict the comics in any way.
i just love how lily came back. one of those moments where you remember that unless you see their corpse or die in front of you, you should never just assume a character is dead
@@quinnmarchese6313 Exactly. In contrast to Fear The Walking Dead, the first spinoff from the TV show. See, before there was the dumb stuff like nukes and Philosophy Degree dialogue from every character and all that crap from season 4 onwards, the first 3 seasons were actually pretty good. Just another story in the Walking Dead universe, but set on the west coast. Fear's 4th season onwards have pretty ridiculous things like unseen, unmentioned relatives of characters showing up after they died, but apparently, the current season, season 8, brought back Troy Otto, one of the main villains from season 3, the last good season, after his last appearance showed him getting conked on the head hard enough to bleed by series protagonist Madison, and then seen afterwards washing up on the shore that Madison also washes up on following a flood resulting from a Dam being blown up later in the episode. Apparently Troy showed up in season 8, having miraculously survived being conked with a hammer and likely drowning in the flood from the dam. Ridiculous.
@@justanactualrealbear before season 4 came out, i always called Lilly's stroyline a plot hole, since it was just left there. not that it was a bad plothole, but TWD has always been that kind of property.
@@quinnmarchese6313 I wouldn't call it a plot hole, just... Shit happens. Lee and co leaving her ass behind is understandable... Unless you keep her with you and she steals the rv lol
But funny enough, the devs confirmed that originally, Lilly was supposed to return with the RV in the last episode to be the main antagonist, having followed the group to Savannah. But the devs switched to The Stranger because they figured that Lilly being the main villain of the season would be dumb and not make sense, just like how Last of Us' originally had its story focus on Tess hunting Joel and Ellie across the country, before Naughty Dog changed that in the final game to where Joel is escorting Ellie across the country because she's immune... Before they had Ellie and Abby hunt each other for vengeance bullshit in Last of Us 2 like 4 times over the crouse of the game.
As a stickler for the details, how we see Shawn die and how Hershel said he died in the comic are pretty distinct, although it's possible he himself wasn't telling the truth to Rick, which makes his claims about honesty in the games quite impactful.
Doug definitely became a meme due to no one ever picking to save him. Can't remember how entirely true this is, but iirc, there was a commotion within the fandom at some point where ppl purposely went back and chose Doug a bunch after it became well-known how popular of a choice Carly was.
Replayed it kind of recently and saved Doug. It was a nice change of pace, and cool with the little things like him rigging proxy traps that tell you where the raiders are coming from at the hotel!
Doug was a homie. RIP
Lee and Carley had the romance, Lee and Doug had the bromance
@@waaa7732 couldn't have said it better myself.
I replayed recently with very little memory of the game. Saved Doug, no question. Carly doesn't even know how batteries work.
Imagine being the Telltale employe who's character model is based off and seeing the memes about Doug not being chosen.
You mentioned that Clem's last name was Crawford, at one point. I wonder if, at some point during development, her parents were planned to be the leaders of the Crawford settlement later in the game🤔
Ah, man, think of the twists that story could've brought...with Crawford not allowing children.
Lee and Clem finding her folks in Crawford and them rejecting her, like the kid that Kenny found starved to death in the attic.
Maybe way too dark and best not to go that way...still, would've hit hard, though
@RoseGoldYTbe93I think that was the name of the hotel her parents were staying at
That would’ve been a pretty cool concept
funny because a similar thing happened with David in season 3
I’m actually upset they didn’t go with that. Clem never really said much about her actual family, only Lee. It would’ve been really cool to have her see them again or develop that part of her past.
@@knowtheplan472Right!?
Lee and Clem find out her parents are leaders of Crawford. One parent wants to keep the rule - No Kids - the other parent, stricken with guilt over their daughter, snaps and decides to take the place down. Kills some important members, opens the gate, and allows it to be overrun wit walkers, killing both parents during the chaos....ooh damn
actually insane how a decade later this game is still talked about, shows its true meaning
I've replayed this game several times, once at launch, once in 2016, and once a year ago. Every time I replay the game I appreciate the voice acting more and more. The voicemail left by Clementine's parents still gives me the chills.
I played this 5 years before I ever watched the show. Amazing games.
And I met Lily's VA at Walker Stalker in 2019. She is so cool. Nothing like Lily luckily. She signed my Walking Dead TT picture too
Dave Fennoy as Lee Everett is what he was destined for
Whenever episode 2 started I didn't know it had a title. I just knew it was episode 2. So when we saw the hicks that suspiciously were safe from everybody I immediately knew they were cannibals. No one is that friendly during an apocalypse for no reason unless you are the Messiah or cannibals.
telltales twd is genuinely one of the greatest things i have ever experienced. especially back in the day it was insane how good the story was. i wish i could replay the story for the first time again
Ooooh just hearing Clem's voice again for the first time in years brought tears to my eyes. This game is so good, made me fall in love with TellTales' games and I still need to finish the last season. I am just scared to let Clem go and finish off the series LOL
I know what you mean about not wanting to finish it too I miss clem so much…
I remember replaying episode 1 since it was for free on the App Store and couldn’t afford the whole game as a kid. Anytime I hear the music from Lee’s parents office in the pharmacy it just takes me back to being a happy 10 year old. Good times
Andrew’s cries for Lee to finish him have stuck with me since i was 10 years old playing for the first time. His voice actor did such an amazing job
That voice acting actually made us empathize with a cannibal. Despite the fact he was going to kill and eat the group, you still feel for a guy who just realizes his family is dead, his home is destroyed, he's lost everything and he just wants to die.
And he went on to voice Bigby Wolf in the Wolf Among Us 👍. Very talented indeed.
Even after all these years, the ending still hits hard and makes me cry... This story is a masterpiece❤
What made TellTale's TWD so impactful for me is how it shows how cruel the world is without making a spectacle of it like the AMC show did. Even when they ended Lee's story, it felt grounded and like a genuine moment where a surrogate father and daughter had to say goodbye for the final time.
Honestly would love to see you continue this retrospective and even talk about how characters develop as the seasons go on.
I played this game when I was very young, I feel like it shaped me as a person.
This truly is one of the best stories of all time.
Fun fact about vernon if you played the 400 days dlc we find out that vernon after taking the boat left his group behind and abandoned them proving he was a scumbag all along and only cared for himself and that lead to his group falling apart as we see his group isn't doing so well in the dlc so my question is if he did take Clem would he abandon her like he did his group
I've never watched a single walking dead episode. But you can bet I've watched so many telltales walking dead content I've lost count. But a retrospective from Fuzzy slippers?!?!? S Tier content
Realizing Lee’s voice actor is also the voice of Jed from honest hearts
This series fundamentally changed me as a person and how I viewed people and the world as I grew up, and to this day it’s probably the most emotional game I’ve ever played. Lee’s journey as a person and his relationship with Clem makes him my favorite video game protagonist. What stands out to me is that you can tailor how Lee reacts to certain situations and his relationships with others, but there are core things about his character that doesn’t change. Some people might chalk this up to your “choices not mattering”, and while I understand that for some story beats, I don’t agree with it for Lee. You can make Lee an angel straight from heaven or the biggest asshole on Earth, but it doesn’t change the fact that Lee at his core always does what he believes is right. It’s that kind of nuance that makes him feel like a real person rather than a character.
having viewed and played this game multiple times over the years from my early teens into adulthood, it really has become a comfort in some way and gets better every time i've played it with new worldly perspective. it will always be a classic to me, even if some people think it's just a movie where you push buttons sometimes. the only really weak portion for me is s3, and i can at least respect the attempt to branch out with a newer cast of characters.
It should've been noted at the beginning that TellTale's seasons take place in the Comic universe of TWD. Though it's never talked about what Glenn did before he got to Atlanta in the show, so it's possible that the walkie talkie both versions of Glenn used to save Ricks life and start the world (as we know it) of The Walking Dead were given to him by a Clementine. It's possible she, and thus Lee and everyone else, _could_ exist in the show universe even if its never shown
Man that last scene with lee still gets me crying so many years later, what a wonderful game.
I’m going to point out that Larry was never going to make it. Cpr alone cannot and will not restart a heart. Since there’s no hospitals or ambulances coming anymore unless they actively had a defibrillator there’s no hope and they don’t.
Walking Dead Season 1 and Wolf Among Us represented Telltale at their best. Everything after just didn't hit the same emotional highs for me. I still get chills in that final combat encounter and the ending still gets my eyes misty.
Honestly wolf among us never grabbed me. The first tales from the borderlans was the shit though. It was so entertaining my friend and I played it together over PS4s god awful shareplay system, and it was still amazing.
I'm still awaiting the Wolf sequel...
@@crimsonking440 Borderlands was dope. Did you play Game of Thrones and Batman? They're good too.
@@crimsonking440 Forgot about that one. I loved Borderlands. Shame the sequel had like no effort out into it
batman is also great
especially the enemy within
“Le-e!” -clem, moments before we all cried
i still think about this game and characters, glad to know i’m not the only one obsessed and forever touched.
Season 1 is PEAK zombie lore… I remember waiting every year for a new season to drop… time flies…
Man, I played the game 4 days ago and this video came out? I am playing the whole package with the definitive edition, replaying this, having memories from 2017, dear god this game made me drop manly tears off my face.
I’ve been marathoning the entire Telltale series recently, great timing with this upload chief
This game got me to tears for its ending all the way back then
This is the only game I’ve ever played where from start to finish I was completely obsessed w the story, even after finishing all 4 seasons all I wanted to do was immediately replay it all over again, best narrative of our generation
the series holds a place in my heart and always will. i hope to see u look at the rest in the future
The four twd games from telltale are my favorite games of all time. All of them make me laugh, cry (and with that i mean serious crying), makes me angry, frustrated, sad and shocked. The emotional connection i have with all the characters (except the assholes) is just insane for characters who never existed in real life.
Weirdly enough I'm running through the games right now and haven't watched much of shows... this was an amazing breakdown for the game and I loved that it was given so much love in this video :)
So happy to see you making this video!!❤ I love The Walking Dead game series. Please consider covering the next seasons
Definitely my most anticipated video from you man, keep up the good work!
THE MUSIC IN THE BEGINNING
Flooded me with memories about this game🥲
I will never forget that one episode in season 2 with Clem after the dog. That was just…horrifying. Not very many things in games can inflict that much pain in me but holy… she’s such a well written character
I genuinely enjoyed this. You MUST do the whole series!
Man im glad you covered this topic, ive been going through my trophies and Tell Tales TwD was the first game I got platinum and got almost all the DLC. 300 days after was awesome
I remember playing the walking dead and was blown away by how the choices you make to certain characters will either put a positive or negative on other characters or could bite you later on, the last episode hit me hard because I didn't want Lee to die :(
We need season 2 now loved your vid from start to end keep it up
This was a fantastic video, I'd love to watch more if you were to cover the next few seasons!
This is one of my favorite games of all time this is easily one of the best channels I’ve found
Thankyou. Needed this man I was sad.
After the first playthrough, i never again chop the arm since Lee can than dual wield knives and fight the horde while going to save Clem, which is the most badass moment in this game, and one of many in whole series.
I love watching your videos while I try to sleep, they are so relaxing
The Yakuza substory theme at the end is a nice touch. Great video!
This story still makes me cry. Not just the end but so many parts pull at your heart its crazy
Great video, I can tell lots of effort was put into this, this video is a great type of “retrospective”, keep going man
Hey FuzzySlippers, I really enjoy your videos! Your content is always so entertaining and inspiring. It's great to see creators like you on CZcams. Keep up the great work! 😊
great video man this entire series will always have a place in my heart
yoo i love these type of videos where you play the game and talk about it! keep doing that stuff! i cant wait for part two :D
you have no idea how long i have waited for this.
this is the upload i needed this Sunday
This was a great vid hope you cover the rest of the seasons 🙏❤️
Great video as usual. Do another for season 2!
i just finished replaying first season for the forth time today, and now watching video I still cried at the scene of lee's end. i touches me so much
Can't wait for season 2 keep it up love the videos
I love ur analysis and video structure and this game is awesome !
This ending was the first game to make me weep like a baby. Watching my brother play it at first was what caused me to to start reading the comics and watching the TV show. Love this game,
'clementine's suite' is one of those songs that when i hear it i tear up because i think of the emotional strife of season 1
This video was really well done, i hope you play the other seasons and make videos on them too, especially the finale season, your choices actually branch out and have different impacts in that game
I needed this rn
The remastered comic shading looks SOOOOO good and helps it age so well
Awesome vid man! Cant wait for that yakuza to drop
Good stuff. Hope you continue with the series
It's crazy I just started playing this game again on my PS Vita just to reminisce a bit and here is the retrospective about it!
Awesome video!
Amazing video bro
I remember playing this for the first time in my iPad back in 2013, still one of the greatest gaming experiences I’ve ever had, feel like this is one of those games I’ll always come back to
The show did say it was airborne and that’s how everyone was infected I believe, I’m sure it’s mentioned in the CDC in season 1
I believe the guy said he believed it was airborne but he had no idea if it was a virus, biochemical, or parasitic
@@galesonic good point! Been a while since I watched. Either way it’s never technically confirmed as I think I remember hearing an interview with Robert Kirkman where he said he disliked the CDC episode as it was giving too much info on the virus itself which was something he never wanted to touch on.
also, spin-offs didn't explain the origin of the virus, just that the french were behind some of the variants wether by accident or not
In the show it's revealed the virus started in France
another banger video, great stuff bro
Love the content Please finish this series would love to hear your thoughts on the whole Clementine storyline!
Great video man, so many fond memories I have with this game when I first played it, it’s crazy to think it’s 11 years old now, btw are you gonna play 400 days before season 2?
Never played this game but maaan. That ending brought me to tears. Poor Clem! 💔
I can't wait to see you cover seasons 2 and 3 and Sleeping Dogs next month!
first timers had to shed some kinda tear i tell you ☠️
I loved this kind of video of you going through the game giving a review on the actions, choices and overall plot of the story. I hope you do this for the other seasons, even though they're not as strong as season one. Also for the ending I teared up, as it was so sad. When I played the game for the first time, when I was at that part, I was balling my eyes out. I was crying a fountain of tears with each step, clem took, knowing lee was going to die. I've never cried so much of characters from a story, but playing as Clem as lee instructions her how to get the key cried more tears with each step.
probably the only game whose ending makes me cry like a baby no matter how many times i see it. my kitten was the only survivor of her litter and i bottle fed her from a week old. named her after this series final girl clementine ❤
This makes me want to replay this.
Story driven games with weak gameplay were never really my thing
But S1 is undeniably one of the best games I played
is it weird that i fall asleep to these videos? lmaooo i come back every night and resume where i last remember but yeah i appreciate the quality content for the videos i use to sleep at night. idk if anyone else does this
I’m sure this takes quite a bit of time but a part two for season 2 would be heat as hell, appreciate how well this video along with Mafia 2 is well summarized
This is great. Thanks
I’d definitely love for you to do the other seasons
love that shaun getting eaten is a cannon event
*S h a u n n* heavy rain next 👀
just caught covid so i’m off work i needed this
You & I FuzzySlippers have the same introduction to the game. Gave it a try when we absolutely could've easily overlooked it.
do the rest of the series 🙏🏻 this is so good
Such a good video that I will be rewacthing many times. I do highly suggest playing the second season because I'll love to hear your thoughts about it
Another thing you missed in episode 2: While searching for a way to get the door open while Andy is distracted, you're able to find a wheelbarrow filled with hay and also random items of clothing. I only found this on my second playthrough!
