At least that's what we all thought this matchmaker would come to. But on the contrary. Francis Ngannou no longer fights for the UFC and has been stripped of his heavyweight title. According to reports in the United States, Jon Jones will face Ciryl Gane in the main event of UFC 285. The former two-time light heavyweight champion hasn't fought since defending his 205-pound title against Dominick Reyes at UFC 247 in February 2020. According to the report, Curtis Blaydes will serve as Plan B in the event that a backup is required. It also claims that the UFC changed its mind after failing to reach an agreement with Stipe Miocic. Jones was expected to return against Miocic in December, but the fight never materialized. If everything goes according to plan, he will face Gane on March 5 in Nevada, Las Vegas.
