Great video Mr.Earle. Continue with the high level content!
High level content indeed. I subbed this channel just yesterday. So rewarding to watch and listen to your presentation. 👏
Nice exploration! Recontextualizing is such a powerful notion, speaking to our conceptions and preconceptions, mostly hidden from our view as they often are. Can shake our notions of 'reality' right down to their foundations. Plus, always a joy to see architecture re-engaged as part of the art. Thank you for the video!
Seems you could have found no better an artist than Theaster Gates to support your theses (though I realize your conclusions were formed as a result of diving into TG's works). Your essay was fascinating, informative and provocative. Thank you, Amor Sciendi!!
[The Stony Island Bank is now on my must-see list]
It's sometimes difficult to those floundering late comers to understand that Art doesn't always have to take place on paper.
I have been hooked by your videos … so packed with ideas and concept … but your delivery speed is supersonic … needs super focus ( often need to watch the video twice … which is also good). I also might have missed the start of your story … I love the “Amor scendi “, how did u pic it up ?🙏🏻🙏🏻
Thanks for leaving this comment! My story? I'm a teacher. I teach high school history and literature. A few years ago my students suggested I start an art history channel and they helped me set it up. Designed the logo for me and everything. That original crew is all grown up now but I keep making the videos for myself. It's a good way for me to structure my own learning and be a public learner as well as a teacher.
Great video!!!!
Relatively speaking when it comes to Art "Look don't listen" Art Etc... life and livingness is relative to the individual. What is for one is not for another it's all part of how social constructs are formed and how people form their various groups and beliefs. Life is opposition enjoy the ride.
Sometimes art leads societies, sometimes it reflects them. It all depends on what is needed at the time. In today's philosophically lost planet, humans need art that leads rather than reflects.
I did enjoy the presentation and look forward for more.
My personal views on Modern abstract, “Found” art is this, It’s Lazy Art, decorative wall art used for interior decoration any creatively worded description is either hype or a personal investment. People can use Tag Ons to give a simple object deep meaning but on its own it does nothing.
Imagine walking into a plain white room with something abstract and found hanging on the wall, Joe regular walks in. Does he/she/they find deep emotional philosophical meaning? No, they see what they’re looking at, something found or a bunch of paint. Something they don’t understand, as I’ve been witnessed to during exhibitions and museums As opposed to a visually identifiable image with objects and people the viewer could relate to with their reality or situation and form an idea, concept artistic.
Exhausting
What about a video of what art history can do? I recently went to a lecture about Jose Clemente Orozco’s prints in the US and without getting into a very long explanation as to why the presentation bothered me, it had me questioning what art history does for the more concerning topics of depicting racism, colonialism, sexism, etc. When art historians and scholars write about these topics of art history, for example new ways of seeing how race was and is depicted based on the lecture, what do they do with these findings if not to confront those perpetuating issues of today?
BTW, there's more to art than iconoclasm.
please please please make a video about AI art and Artists who work with AI
I did czcams.com/video/68xVQqbx2h4/video.html
@@AmorSciendi yea I watched it its great, but I thought it'll be cool to revisit it again with an update now especially with all the recent developments and publicly accessible generative AI art, exploring artists like Ian cheng and their use of AI in art can help remythologies our relationship with AI and how it can be used versus how the media shapes the meaning of AI art
'Artists' that work with art aren't artists.
When are you gonna make more videos about Renaissance art? Your focus over the past few years has shifted towards the contemporary, which I find much less interesting than Renaissance and medieval art.
In the summers I return to renaissance art. This past summer I did the birth of Venus and the flagellation of Christ.
@@AmorSciendi I appreciate those videos more. When you started your channel, most of your videos were of that bent (one of the main reasons I subscribed).
More art less talk, please.
