Mason is smart enough to see the kittens aggressive posture comes from fear. He choose to show the kitten there is nothing to be afraid of from him. He is a sweet old Pappa cat.
RIP Mason, you were the best Grandpa. What an amazing job you did with these babies, and countless more. 💘🐾🥺
Note how Mason averts his eyes so as not to get locked in a staring contest in order to de-escalate the situation. This, ladies and gentlemen, is how you cat :)
Strange. My cat did that to a kitten that wasn't his in play-mode and then jumped on her when she wasn't looking. He does that to me sometimes, I figured it out after. He isn't trained and it’s too late so he bites really hard and accidentally scratches.
Mason: "Kid, I've seen scarier things than you in my litter box."

I watch this every time it comes up on my feed. Serenity's babies were such sweet silly floofs. Fearless Ninja and Iris ignore their silly brother and walk right up to Mason. Meanwhile, Mason was more concerned that Bunny was in his yurt. I think about Serenity and wish her well wherever she may be.
Grandpa Mason sure is an exceptional patron. What patience he exibits. I love you Grandpa Mason! 💖🐾

Seriously! I get the sense he's saying, "It's alright kiddo, take your time" to the puff. He's not backing down, but he's also not instigating anything and looking as non-threatening as possible, WHILE also giving the other kittens a gentle sniff when they approach him. He's the best grandpaw any lil' tyke can have.

Mason is trying so hard to calm the kitten without backing down. Relaxed non-threatening posture, studious and careful avoidance of eye contact...
The feline equivalent of the big, scarred, tattooed, scary mountain of a man (or woman, in some cases) sitting down and telling you to relax, they're chill.

Mason has settled in so well in his role as elder cat; I'm just glad he's enjoying life now.

Just noticed Clovey's sisfur Tia Ninja gave Mason a couple nose boops than briefly went puffy herself starting at 1:20 so Mason briefly had 2 impudent puffy kittens confronting him before she moved on & went back to playing. But seeing Tia, Tulip & Iris' reactions as they walk around their stuck puff brofur during this video is priceless.

I didn't even know that Serenity's kits had met Mason, yet! With his age, and many kittens coming, it's good that Mason has trained his Adaurable assistant! Can they be seen together on any live feeds? Even if not, it's comforting to know that all the kits will be getting care and training from Mason and/or Aura!!!

Cats blink slowly or keep their eyes slightly shut to show that they mean no harm. I'm guessing he's trying to make himself big to keep trouble away and squint to say he doesn't want to fight. It does make him look sleepy, though.
