  • The parents of a boy who died after he was electrocuted by overhead power cables have launched a campaign film warning of the dangers of trespassing on the rail network.
The film tells the story of 11-year-old Harrison Ballantyne, who died in 2017 after he strayed into a rail freight depot to retrieve a lost football.
Despite not touching the power cables, Harrison died at the scene after he was hit by 25,000 volts of electricity which had formed an arc.

I think the rail companies should have done videos like this a few years ago to warn about the dangers of people sticking their heads out of train windows, a good few people have been injured or killed doing this and yet nobody has made a serious warning video about it and so many people used to do it, kids teens and adults alike. probably still do where those trains with openable windows are still in operation.

Do you need to be told not to drink straight from the kettle after it boils? Or to not put your hand on the stove?

25,000 volts from overhead railway power supply takes no prisoners I’m afraid. Safe distance 6 foot.

It advisees you against going into a railway depot where there are high voltage wires that risk killing you if you get too close. I’d say that’s pretty solid advice.
