i'm from sweden and i swear after diggas next up hole streets bumpin it and more uk drill afterwards aswell.
67 and 150 pretty much started drill but 150 deffo dont have as much influence on what drill is today.
The main song blowing up first was LD - Church
Next significant moment was 67 and Giggs - Lets Lurk which then took it to a new level.
67 were on top for a while until Harlem came along.
Loski made Hazards and Harlem were releasing a lot of tunes without vids that were doing very well underground. This is were a lot of OG drill fans were made.
So Harlem were slowing bubbling for a few months, gaining lot of fans until Call me a Spartan dropped then they fully blew.
That night on twitter that song was getting shared non stop.
Harlem had a huge buzz now and they capitalised with songs like Kennington where it started which blew up differently.
I don't think any Uk street music had done something like this before.
Harlem were getting really big, everyone was using their slang. Other artists were starting to try there flow which was extremely unique and catchy at the time.
While Harlem were on a high a lot of people were getting into drill which made them want to check out other stuff. And the next best in a similar style was artists like 410 so due to the rise in interest of drill I think other drill artists were starting to get recognised.
Then a lot of Harlem members were starting to get locked. They still had a hype and released songs like No Hook and Darling Pardon. But with there main members locked they could only keep it up for so long.
Due to Harlems success however it inspired a lot of other gangs to start doing drill music and now there was starting to be a lot more choice for drill fans. I would say however as all these gangs satisfied all current drill fans and kept drill alive , they were really bringing in new fans or growing the genre.
AM and Skengdo would eventually drop there MAB and 1011 would drop Next Up which I would say were significant moments for drill. Both of these freestyles definitely increased the interest in drill and kept taking it to new levels.
Headie one Know better capitalised on some controversy to push drill forward.
Dig Dat Air Force and Unknown T Homerton B both reached new audiences for drill.
I'm not really into russ but at some point he must have started putting I work and recently his song Gun lean has took drill on the brink of mainstream success.
So as a summary
67 pretty much started modern drill with LD being the Godfather.
Loski - Hazards was the key influence in the new wave/style of drill.
Harlem Spartans in My opinion are the main reason for drill being where it is at today due to there run in 2016/ 2017.
AM and Skengdo MAB took drill to the next level when it seemed to be dying down.
1011- next up, specifically Diggas verse gave drill another big push.
Headie one and RV - know better did a madness.
Songs by Russ, Unknown T and Dig Dat have started to get drill mainstream.
Btw my personal favourite drill artist is CB but he hasn't impacted the growth of drill too much.
Forgot to mention Section boyz but they weren't really classed as drill at the time
