Anyone who's genuinely concerned about car theft should install a kill switch but as my dad once told me locks don't keep people out they keep people honest and if someone wants what you have they can and will take it a thief doesn't need to drive a car to steal it

No way to install a kill switch in a computer car without ruining the computer. Simply changing the resistance in a wire ever so slightly will disable the computer. They have gone to great lengths to prevent car owners from modifying these systems in any way. You no longer actually own your own car.

Yep that's true my grandfather and dad also say the same type things but I agree with this other comment about kill switch and your computer but IDK? Since I don't have a dodge but if you got a hellcat I would get a gps tracker they make all types that you can put somewhere on your car and if someone steals it? Hop on your phone app and gets the location I know if I got a hellcat a car that cost around 100k for some I definitely will have. A gps tracker or something like that I would think that a car that cost that much would have a on star or something that would track it if stolen but I guess not IDK

I will say that I feel like its a straight up video and very informative. I'm 73 and when the bad ass dodges were leaving the show room floor, they had a ignition with keys to operate said rig. I was a mechanic for my dad before I was old enough to argue and so fixing a nice car to me was second nature. I had to keep dads equipment running good and so learned a lot on gas and diesels. Over the years till I retired I could work on most of all the rigs from horse and buggy where hay was the key all the way to around two thousand. Since then stuff still applies alright but to steal a rig, it was pop the ignition out of the dash, took about half a minute taking time to not scratch the rig up and on back of switch it said what each wire went to so power, ing, st., and of course if you work on a few it gets even easier. I could take a piece of soft wire and go around the bare metal connectors and tie it together and with the end of the soft wire sticking out, touch the starter and boom its running. Movies show some guy using a slide hammer to remove the ignition switch (key part) and use a screwdriver to start or Stallone grabbing that wheel and yanking it off and twist some wires that don't even exist in real life but for the movie anything's possible. I have heard of the boxes that your referring to and seen one advertised as "never walk home" cause you lost your keys so for nine ninety five and some shipping you got a toy called a juggler and it would start any rig supposedly and they don't mention that this car needs the remote start function for it to work..... all in all not a true great deal for that lonely wife having to walk home from work like in the movies. First slap her for not having a key with her and stop making women the bad ass's they show on the tube as weight usually overrides the "training to be safe" as its some real low life that would harm a woman or even a guy in the first place. I have heard all the excuses including my dad hated me so I had to kill pillage and other low life crap stories. I am glad that youtube covers a lot of stuff. I guess if the only love you found was netflix then its a get out of jail free card... that is till you try to spend that card with me and no one can see what happens next/LOL. No I am not a bad ass, I did serve and thank you for your service as well. I just know that everything I do I am responsible for like a nine mm it the center of such offender forehead. Them black boxes are very common in my country, new era cars are waaaay easier to steal these days. U can prevent that, first of all make sure u have that metal box in your house. Secondly manage to buy a small Wallet with metal pilates in it. Many on ebay, cheap and Good looking ones. Another method is to installl a hidden button somewhere on your car. Basiclly what that button do is, when u sit in your car and perform start witout touching that button, electricity wont pass thruu to the mail switch box. Very Old and in my opiniom the best till this Day method to avoid stealing my car, espessialy every new era car.

Another simple solution would be if the fobs had a little slide switch on them to physically switch them off so they cannot transmit anything at all. Then when you really want to go, you grab the fob and turn it back on. Maybe that would defeat the 100% hands-free mandate but I'd probably use it. Another way would be if the fob had its own internal motion sensor so if it is just sitting on a shelf or hanging in the closet in your coat pocket or purse, it would go to sleep. Once you start moving it around, it would again become active. Lots of microcontroller chips have motion (G) sensors inside them so it would be a cheap solution.

You can get a fortified kill switch off amazon. I was looking at those to build a way to use my cell phone to activate it. One could use a viper alarm with the cell service and take the box and the switch, hook it to the fuel pump, or use it to power a camera up . It has a gps tracker and a phone alert. It shouldn't be too hard to wire it to work as a remote . After my car got jacked I went to a dark place and being a mechanic I figured out a way to wire up a tazer ( air fired ) to shoot center mass into the driver seat.....my cop neighbor told me I could do time for that.

Love the video. I've heard of this issue but never saw it in action. I bought a new '19 Challenger 392 and I also bought an RFID blocker box that I leave in my kitchen and all the car and motorbike fobs go into that. I've done some tests with the fob in the box, lid open and lid closed and it definitely blocks the signal when closed. I also have an RFID blocker pouch that works but I got sick of having to take the fob out of it and put it back in each time. Now after parking at home, I drop the fob into the box and that's it. Truth be told, I get lazy when the car's inside the garage (which has its own lock, alarm, camera, etc.) so I don't always drop the fob into the box like I should, but I always do it when the car is outdoors.

At the end of the day, every Charger or Challenger owner needs to install at least two GPS trackers in their cars. One tracker will be the primary device that’s wired in. Then the other device will be a backup device that is wireless and is concealed deeply in the car in case the primary device is found and removed. If you have a Scat Pack or Hellcat, I recommend having a 3rd device which also is wireless.
