If anyone has played Zero Hour previously; APA Taskmaster is essentially Vanilla China. GLA Thrax is similar to Toxin general.
Dev: "Hey Boss, what should we do with this game that's 90% completed and will almost certainly be well-received by most of our fanbase?"

It was supposed to be all of C&C eventually.
But this game started off as Generals 2.
EA wanted more money so they try to monetize an RTS game (fail), where you have to spend points on everything including generals and in game promotion perks (double fail), all leading to an arrogant non RTS scavenger piece of shit who EA was trying to appeal to, YOU (triple fail).
FPS games are avg 5min round games, MOBA 45min and RTS can range from 15min-2hrs.
This is not ideal for EA as most of the time spent is in game and not squeezing blood money out of the tits on useless garbage.
Besides dummy the original RTS innovators were long gone since the release of Zero Hour.
Its sad that the world needs jackasses like you just for your cash.

Yeah, despite all the micro transactions and stuff, the actual gameplay of this was really enjoyable and it'd be great to see it fully balanced and completed

There was also some rumours that the developers (Victory Games) weren't happy with the direction that EA was forcing the game to go, and I think that might have played into the cancellation.

lordaltair let me point out a few mistakes EA did to Generals 2, and why it end up being cancelled:
1) EA making it Free to Play, for the sake of MP. It's funny that BF1, Overwatch and Battlefront was also MP focus but full price games
2) Always online with no offline option, the same mistakes they did to C&C4 by having "always Online" as requirement. With no offline
3) EA didn't gave the development team some time, this has always been the controversial part of C&C ever since Westwood Studios was shut down. EA always rushing C&C, end up some C&C games being lack, some units, and mechanics being cut, few examples are C&C Arena+ TiberiumFPS scrapped and became C&C4. C&C Kanes Wrath, lack of GDI and Scin campaigns, you can find all of this at the C&C wikia
i wanted this CnC =( i love how at the beginning 3:13 the music playing is from Tiberium Wars "Gathering Intel" pretty good how they reused the best tracks from Tiberium and CnC generals, too bad it got canceled, man i'm in the need of an epic RTS right now.

Yo, im reading the comments and you all upset it got cancelled. Guys, I played command and conquer generals for over 15 years I know all the ins and outs and everything of that game. This was never going to live up to it, the fact it had a squad based system already massively ruined the gameplay because the freedom of using individual units was lost. The Pay 2 play scheme also would have totally ruined it and it had no single player. IN all honesty this is not generals just some ugly piece of futuristic crap which wants to be a bit of everything but ends up being nothing. I love this game like no other, but this was never going to work.

This game clearly didnt have the same polish of the first generals, I am not sure if thi gme would had been a success. They should really hire teh sam eteam behind CnC Generals, that game was really epic!
A played the alpha and had to pay after 2 days or so. It had the potential to be great but yeah the cancelled it ;(

EA has the rights to it. EA stopped the development when they recieved the negative feedback of the alpha testers and realized that the development studio was making a game that the target audience didnt like. I guess the problem was that it was originally announced as CnC Generals 2 and not as a rather generic f2p game.
I think the developer really wanted to make a good game - but EA pushed the microtransaction model which was sort of crapped into the game. I do remember reading rumors that Victory Games (The developer) had a lot of issues with the way EA was trying to do these things - and it is one of the reasons that EA eventually just canceled the whole thing.

Okay, they shut down the development of the game. But I do not understand why it was not possible to leave this way at least. Maybe there were mistakes because if I remember correctly, this alpha version, but enough people have played with him. I hope you understand what I wrote from big I can not really English.

No not really - It was more like C&C Generals or Starcraft. Supreme Commander got it's inspiration from an Total Annihilation (it's actually a spiritual sequel to it.).

Is it just me.. or do you want more realistic quote from a C&C.. Meaning small short realistic reports from your unit and such.. Nothing that dont get annoying no matter how many times they repeat..

If there are still something missing like campaigns or overpowered units just the modders do it's job because they always have the ability to change to course of the game just like C&C Generals Zero Hour mods and addons been created.

The boosters on there at the moment are extremely cheap and don't really change a whole lot. (Like 45 CP). You can earn something around 300 CP for a win. I figure their plan for these kinds of boosters is that everyone is going to use them in every game. The only difference between players will be which boosters they choose.
They might even remove these prior to release.

It was in Alpha testing 3 years ago but EA cancelled the game. There were rumors that another company would continue working on it, but nothing has been confirmed in the last 3 years. Chances are the game isn't ever going to be completed.

I was so excited when I first heard of this then I saw it and my heart sank. Who ever designed this has no clue about how generals was played. Just the fact of having squads in it ruins it entirely.. Yea probably, whats really annoying is this had so much potential especially on the frostbite engine and they totally screwed it up. Never thought I would ever want Generals 2 cancelled, but this woouldnt be Generals to be honest. It probably might be an alright game, just take that name off of it and sell it as something else (whcih they are probably doing)

No , these boosters "perks" are not that affecting besides it only can be purshased using CP which can only be earned by playing the game
If I remember correctly, EA made several budget cuts, and that was the reason why this game became f2p in the first place. To save the game. This would have been way better even as a f2p multiplayer only game than that pile of dung CnC 4 or even RA3. And the game got axed along with the studio on a Friday, and the next patch would have come on next Monday with bug fixes (pathfinding, crushing), and extra passive abilities for generals. Frankly man, the game is really cancelled go to the C&C wikia, an see for yourself, apparently im just a shock as you are a few days ago when a friend of mine told me on Facebook about it, they say that the fans feedback of the game my be a contributing factor to the games cancellation.
Im still going to research the reasons why its cancelled, but all we know EA pulled the plug on the project. Man i've waited years to get a new game, this game had a lot of potential, going back to the Generals Universe an all. Will just have too hope they can revive this game somehow in the future.

CnC its different than CnC Generals. Its a different game in my opinion. RTS for sure but with a twist. So Generals 2 should be a great game like the first one
