tate was born in Calgary, Canada. She began being a dancer at a very young age, she began recreational dance training at age six. Having returned to Calgary, at the age of eight, she began to train more intensively in dance and competed with Drewitz Dance Productions. She started writing her first little songs but weren't serious at all, at age 14 she posted a video that blew up a lot :"One Day" in a "i wrote a song..." series in 2017 until 2019. She posted her second blew-up "you broke me first" and "that way" at age 17 which were one of the first blew ups on tiktok. Putting out her first album "i used to think i could fly" which she released at age 18 on may 27th, 2022. At the time of its release, says that ultimately she didn't feel those songs were a completely accurate representation of her. She released her new sophomore album at age 20 on december 8th, 2023. Now, she considers her sophomore album as a sort of reintroduction: “sad-girl bit got a little boring,” as she declares on the opening track “cut my hair.”. I have been a fan of her since 2017, since she was just a little songwriter who put out her music for her small amount of fans, now i am so so so proud of her growth in the music industry. I am 16 and i am a singer, songwriter and pianist and i feel like i've grown up with her getting a inspiration from her confidnce and personality in the music industry :))))

and yes, the metaphor of seeing the "plastic palm trees" meaning as in everything wasn't as she thought it was. As well as pretty much everyone, she used to see Los Angeles as an amazing, magical place that had magical palm trees, now that she lives there and goes back to canada when she can, she's trying to still find success even if the place where she is isn't what she thought it was. hope this helps :)

Only 11 minutes into the video. I love your interpretations of the first 3 songs. Especially with greedy, even though you say Cut My Hair had more of a story, when you mentioned it may be someone, and seemingly much older than her, that she’s casually messing with and saying “No, I’m not greedy, you can’t get this” is something I would’ve never thought of, but it’s so accurate.

Loved your interpretation of each song. I love how each song is like moving through stages of a relationship, and realizing that it’s not worth it, then being back home brings back memories of being younger and reliving old memories.
This was great, thanks for reacting to Tate! I know I'm late to this reaction, but I thought I would just point out a couple things. First of all, Tate as actually been writing and releasing her own music since she was as a young a 13 years old, and she has gone viral on youtube for it more than once. You probably know a couple of her songs and you don't even know it. The next thing I wanted to mention is that although it may sound like she's repeating herself like you said, not all of these songs are about the same person. For example, want that too is actually about her previous team who used to work with her on music, not someone she was in a relationship with. I would definitely recommend you react to her debut album, as well as some of the other music she has released before this, because a lot of your notes about this album sound very tiktok, are specific to this project in particular, and don't necessarily apply to her music as a whole. Anyway, I'm glad you still enjoyed it and thanks again for all the work you do! :)
A fellow millennial here agreeing with everything 😂😂I’m turning 30 this week and the 20 year old kids are saying I’m old😂😭 I saw someone on Instagram saying to another person: “youre 27?! You look so young!” And I was like girl, you think we have wrinkles at 27 or something? We ARE young 😂

yeah, I agree with you in a lot of ways as someone who's passed my twentys, but I enjoy this album for what it is. It have a really nice production and cool moments, it grew on my the more I listened to it. Great reaction tho!
