Staying in best recognised hotels is much safer most of these bad guys and gals can’t enter in those places without any official verification. AirBNB are cheaper but very dangerous.
Commonsensical approach is valuable in those jungles

Bright young man. I’m in Cartegena now for the week from Miami. No watch, nothing fancy, respect the culture, and stay in the right areas and it’s a beautiful city with great people. For the algorithm 👍🏻

As you probably know, Gregory Owens did pass away. He was 59yrs old. I never hear of anything happening in Marbella, but this was four guys on 2 motos who rode by and saw him. They arrested one guy "el chucho" and recovered a bike. There's a $20million reward out for info on the others. This also happened in the afternoon. I really expected Getsemani or Centro late at night when i heard someone got killed.

Is exhausting bring vigilant all the time. You go on a 1-2 weeks vacation to enjoy and relax and not to add more stress and put yourself in danger. It is a horribly dangerous country and the Colombians are very desperate and will unalive you for nothing. The police are not helpful and corrupt and can’t trust them either. It seems they and criminals work together 😂. The locals are getting robbed and st@@bbed themselves, how much more is you the foreigner? There is this resentment towards foreigners as well, the US government has helped installed puppet leaders in these countries that is making the locals livelihood hard. And these leaders are deleting their own country people too. Is a nice place but not worth it anymore.
Ghana, Thailand, Western Europe, Kenya etc all have nice safe places to go to . I also hear Costa Rica is safe. But the rest of south America, I will pass 😮

Good afternoon my brother I hear what you saying about Cartagena and your bad experience but Cartagena has more to offer than what you experienced on your last vacation here get yourself a tour guy that’s gonna show you the real Cartagena and then place another comment👍🏾 you do things on your own traveling and your experience could either go good or it could go bad. It all depends what you do.

@@leocartagena08 is a beautiful country and lots to do and see, apart from the pretty girls. If only the crime rate can go down. Is tough in the west too, but the tough places in America is not as bad as it is in Columbia. American girks will not drug you and rob you, abd no one will snatch my phone violently from my hand, even walking 🚶 in the streets minding my business. In Columbia, just walking around in broad daylight, you might get robbed and attacked for no reason, or your phone snatched violently from you.
Hotel staff are colluding with the locals to rumon you in your own hotel room, even the staff in the hotel will steal from you. It’s very tough place lol
Government should wake up and help it people and instil pride. Robbing people is not a good way to make a living and whatever you do to someone will be done to you. Tourists will eventually lose interest and head to Africa and Asia, or Europe both eastern and western countries

It's tough to see this happen to my beloved Cartagena. When I started coming there with my wife pre pandemic, man this was one of the first countries and cities I went to where I felt totally safe. And I mean walking the streets alone into the wee hours safe. I've seen the theft kick up a notch to the point that I wouldn't feel safe, and I darn sure wouldn't feel comfortable taking my wife down. At least not to be totally relaxed. We were down for a month during their Independence Day on time and man we had the time of our lives. Major crowds, no thieving, everyone was pouring out drinks for each other, and of course there was flour throwing, fireworks, and noise but it was such a friendly atmosphere. Anyway, the short of it is I feel like I felt the atmosphere change a lot post pandemic. And it feels like it is going to take a good while for it to calm down. I don't go on vacation to have to be in the house by 8/9:00 at night. Looking over my shoulder at every moto. Hell, I've seen plenty of videos of people sitting in a cafe, and they hop off and run up inside and rob everyone. That's not relaxing at all. Since the Pandemic I've been to San Andres, but not back to the mainland at all. And I will be the first to admit I miss it. But in the game of chance, I don't gamble. No guarantees in life, but I only risk so much when don't absolutely have to.

I just spent over 2 years there but l left for Barranquilla. Cartagena is primarily dependent on tourists so you need to be a smart one to enjoy that environment . I agree with your thoughts here . Peace
