    American musician Ernesto Antonio "Tito" Puente was a songwriter, record producer, arranger and Grammy Award winning artist. Tito Puente is known as "El Rey de los Timbales" (The King of the Timbales) and "The King of Latin Music". He is best known for dance-oriented mambo and Latin jazz compositions that endured over a 50-year career. During the 1950s, Puente was at the height of his popularity, and helped to bring Afro-Cuban and Caribbean sounds like mambo, son, and cha cha chá, to mainstream audiences. Among his most famous compositions are mambo "Oye Cómo Va" popularized by Latin rock musician Carlos Santana and later interpreted, among others, by Julio Iglesias, and Celia Cruz.
    El músico estadounidense Ernesto Antonio "Tito" Puente fue un compositor, productor discográfico, arreglista ganador de los premios Grammy. Tito Puente es conocido como "El Rey de los Timbales" y "El Rey de la Música Latina". Es mejor conocido por sus composiciones de mambo y jazz latino orientadas a la danza que perduraron durante una carrera de 50 años. Durante la década de 1950, Puente estaba en el apogeo de su popularidad y ayudó a llevar los sonidos afrocubanos y caribeños como mambo, son y cha cha chá al público en general. Entre sus composiciones más famosas se encuentran el mambo "Oye Cómo Va", popularizado por el músico de rock latino Carlos Santana y luego interpretado, entre otros, por Julio Iglesias y Celia Cruz.
