    Hey Tom.
    Engine Master tested meth injection in the typical intake manifold and found that it wasn't working correctly. Because of the funky curved intake runners, meth wasn't making it to the front cylinders. Be real careful. That could be really bad news under boost.

      I’d like to see someone take the model of that intake and do some CFD analysis see how air is distributed throughout the runners. This should give a clue if the meth injection would be evenly distributed in each intake runner.

  • @mattduncan2821
    @mattduncan2821 Před 5 lety +98

    Engine masters on motor trend on demand recently did a myth busters episode where they tested how effective single nozzle water meth injection is on a ls engine. They concluded that it cannot be effectively distributed to the cylinders on that style of intake manifold. The only real way to do that would be direct port water methanol injection. Just something to think about. Love the videos.

    you should put the wmi nozzle as close to the cold side of the ic and as far from the throttle body as possible to allow the liquid to become thin vapor before it reaches the intake manifold... with that you will get an accurate iat value judging by the location of your iat sensor and maybe you will not experience the wmi problems with the ls engine that are mentioned my others.... love your work

Trim access to make sure there are no protrusions internally to the tubing. We really like your projects. Good Luck.

    Tom, just a thought on the catch can routing. I would not plump the passenger side valve cover vent pre-turbo without an intermediate sealed air-oil separator. Oil droplets hitting turbo blades spinning at 100.000 RPM sounds pretty bad. In addition, this will eventually coat the inside of your IC pipes and condense in the intercooler itself, filling it with oil. Pre-turbo routing is a nice vacuum source, but please consider filtering the oily fumes first.
    BTW love the BOM elements on the last couple of vids! Keep up the good work!

    We have a 2WD 5 lug Tacoma project we are just starting on, going with more of a desert truck build. You have made me jealous and giving me inspiration!
