Malcolm X was ahead of his time. everyone should take time to learn about Malcolm X, Dr. Huey P Newton , Bobby Seale & the Black Panther Party as a whole, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., etc. there’s so many other greats that need to be taught in school.

His metamorphosis after he got out of prison was astonishing! I love Malcolm X, hard to believe he was a guy who hung around the streets, so different before to the point you couldn't believe this was a story of Malcolm X. He will always be the man I want to be, the man I will always look up to. He was the best.

I've read this book many, many times. I always tell anyone that will listen to me Please read this book. This is a powerful and important book for anyone to read and most importantly for a Black person whom realize they are Black. These days sometimes I wonder. In the 60's we were well aware of the movements taken place. We're Black and Proud. It was in the music of Curtis Mayfield, James Brown, The Last Poets, and so many more. I could go on, but I want to leave space for others. I appreciate this book in audio because my eye sight isn't what it used to be. Thanks for this so very important and special piece of BLACK History. I just Love this.

From here until his trip to Mecca until his unfortunate departure from us he was El Hajj Malik El Shabazz. We do indeed love him. He was taken from us 6years 3months 14days before I was born feel a sense of loss. I read and watch everything I come across trying to soak up everything I can about him. He is us true trinity. From being called the devil by his fellow inmates to trying to changes the 🌎 for the better.

This book changed my life.
I first read the autobiography of Malcolm X in the late 1970s while in the military stationed in West Germany. When I was born my family on my Mother's side were members of the Nation of Islam. So I had experienced both the Nation of Islam and the Christian Church as a child so it made reading the autobiography that much more of an impact on me. And until reading the Qur'an no other book had such an impact on me not even the bible. So every time I hear or read someone talk about the book changing their life I understand. And as others have said before me this should be a required reading in our educational system.
Takes me back to being 12 years old reading this having to take frequent breaks because of graphic tellings of Malcolm's childhood, crying and feeling so much pain and anger for his family. 😞

I'm 54 years old now from Detroit, I remember I was sick and could not work when I was about 33 years old, and I finally read Malcolm X autobiography that my younger sister gave to me. It completely change my way of thinking Malcolm X is great like Marcus Garvey.

As Salaamu Alaikum! Reading your comments made me reflect on the similarities with my own life. Although I had experienced both the Nation of Islam and the Christian Church as a child when I reached age 15 and 16 my life took a turn for the worst. I realized that I had gotten off track. And at age 16 I had one of my older brothers to tattoo a question mark on my arm because the question in my mind was about my "real purpose" in life. I wanted the Creator to help me see and understand what that was. As a result of several different events three months after my 17th birthday I joined the military and after basis and advanced training I was sent to Europe where I was stationed for nearly two and a half years. Although I was already familiar with the Nation of Islam and Malcolm X I had never read his story. My mother used to say " don't y'all remember when I took y'all to Savior's Day and Malcolm X introduced the Messenger"( when they said the Messenger in the Nation of Islam they meant Elijah Muhammad). So while in Europe I read a wide range of books (a habit my mother started me doing as a young child). Authors like James Baldwin, Langston Huges, George Jackson and Dick Gregory to name a few. But by far the most powerful book that I read until I read the Qur'an was the autobiography of Malcolm X. As you said it help you to discover the real purpose to your life, well I can say the same. I knew since I was a child that I was Muslim by nature. That wasn't the issue for me. But reading Malcolm's autobiography push me into becoming active but becoming active meant I had to become knowledgeable. And I needed to get it straight from the source. I needed to become a serious student of the Qur'an first( my mother gave me my first copy of the Qur'an) so I couldn't be told just anything about Islam or Al-Islam proper by just any body. As ALLAH, the Most High says in HIS Book, "beware of those who will dazzle you with their speak." But one thing that struck me as strange when I informed my mother that I was reading the autobiography of Malcolm X she told me to be careful. And I was puzzled at first by that. But the more I read I realized that she knew it could affect me in a way that could cause me problems as a soldier in the U.S. Military. I went in only 10 years after Muhammad Ali ( who I first met at a Nation of Islam Mosque when I was 10 yrs of age) had refused to be inducted into the U.S. military ( like Elijah Muhammad and many members of the Nation of Islam before him). Plus my mother knew her son. And knew that I could be some what radical even without being inspired by brothers like Malcolm X aka Malik Shabazz. May ALLAH forgive his sins, faults and mistakes and grant in a place in Jannah. Amin!!

I read this book as a teenager and it changed my life. I'm bi-racial and grew up on both sides of the color line. But over time I came to understand who I am and X's teachings were pivotal to that. He is one of the few TRUE leaders we've ever had. If you're open to it, this book can truly help free your mind.

I first read this emotional copy of the Autobiography of Malcolm X, twenty seven years ago, because he undoubtedly was a great leader warrior mentor and hero that put his life on the line for Africans globally.

As Salaamu Alaikum! I am glad to know that some one from the Gambia is paying attention to brother Malcolm and know something about our history. My wife is Gambian. I have been traveling to Senegal and the Gambia for about 15 years. I just returned from Dakar Senegal about two weeks ago. I have sent this to some Gambians that I know. Again, As Salaamu Alaikum!
I initially read this book when I was a high school student. I won't say that it totally transformed me or made me into some pious individual or anything.I now in this late stage of my life wished that it had. However what I will say is that it helped me to modify and dramatically change my way of viewing things. And it also helped me to enhance my intelect by using his example of reading and studying everything I could get my hands on, including the dictionary. Malcolm is my big brother, my favorite unlce and to some extent the father that I wished that I had. And I know that I'm not singular in this mindset. Rest in peace El Hajj Malik El Shabazz until we all meet you again.

Joe Morton's voice is recognizable, however somewhere around the middle you can actually hear his voice morphing into Malcom's. Roscoe Lee Brown shares in the reading also. I have read the book several times and this my 3rd time listening to the audio. Enjoy Black History Month everyone.

Absolutely riveting. I admired Malcolm X from afar through being a fan of Muhammad Ali. Now I know the real Malcolm X. If must have been incredible sitting at one of his sermons. An incredible man. His true words even more true today. Wonderfully read too.

My brother bought this book in the 1960s. I was in grade school when I read it. It was a kind of thick book and over the years I read it over many times to get the full understanding. I loved the man.

@@GavinGill07good you said that. I was going to listen to the audiobook,but I had planned on reading the text a while ago. I don't really listen to audiobooks when ever I'm reading because I'm old school and prefer an actual feel of the book.

This is my favorite book of all time. I grew up in a town that is 98% white, 1.7% black and 0.3% of other ethnic minorities. I’m an adopted Korean American. I didn’t realize until 8th grade that the hardships I was facing, wasn’t something new. I learned from Malcolm to stand up for myself and be proud of my heritage, and my skin. ✊🏽
