  • I built this as a FFA Prodject for the 2010 Guadalupe County youth show in Seguin Texas. I got Reserve GrandChampion in my class. The forks a detachable with a three point hookup to mount just the forks on the back of a tractor. Please leave comments on what you think.

Nice prject. I bult one long ago very simiar design but much less cost and parts than used here.I lift and carry the large 5x6 heavy bales every winter. For axles I took 2 spindles off the front of a wrecked chevy truck and torch cut the excess casting until it fit iinto the ends of a .2-7/8 drill stem pipe used for axle. I used 2 short pieces of larger pipe slipped over the axle pipe to use as the pivot mount.

I had thought about puttting a center prong but most of the ones around here dont have them and they work just fine.So thats the reason I guess

Cody, nice work! My son is looking to do a similar project that we can haul with the ATV... If you are willing to share your specs with us, we would surely appreciate it... Wants to do it for our county fair.

No thanks, I'll stick with my "Tumble bug" hay trailers, No need to get out, No need for an extra battery, just back up, turn on the parking lights, load and then drive forward and GO. Faster too.

Can a "tumble bug" be operated by an ATV? Nope. I've had the hay bale come forward past where it was supposed to go twice with a tumble bug. Yeah, they work, but I've used one, don't like it. There's no 'slamming' the hay bale around either, with this.

Tumblebug sucks! Oddball shit loads from side not end. No good if fence in the way. Also no good for tightly stacking bales end to end. I would rather use one of these in the vid with a hand winch than be seen with an ugly side loader behind my truck.
