I would appreciate seeing the patch notes stuff. I don't play a whole lot of Smite anymore or follow updates too closely, but I still love watching the content. And if the new changes are as big as they sound, having someone walkthrough the changes for us would be great.
I get what you’re asking, but there are tons of other creators you could watch that stuff on. If you want a summarized version watch intersect. Of course there is always the actual patch notes show.

Regarding Surtr’s 1
It says his next successful basic attack. Can you theoretically miss you attacks so you attack with the AoE of his basic attack chain to proc it against multiple targets, or no?

I was wondering if you could hit 1 then use his 2/3 to clear wave
to get more stacks you can probably wiff ur first basic after activating the 1 and use his second cleave basic. the text says next successful auto applies the defuff so it should not go away on a miss
I think it's like cabraken where activating the 1 changes the hit chain

Like someone else said in the comments, just from reading his abilities he sounds like he plays a lot like Gilgamesh in certain respects.
His 2 is basically Gilga's kick but delayed.
He has Dr Mundo's passive from league,
His 1 is almost Nasus Q from League but capped at 200 stacks instead of infinite so you don't scale infinitely which would just be a whole new can of worms for smite.
The DOT I guess is to balance that out.
His 3 automatically collects your passive for you so inside his 3 you are a very tanky boi.
Diminishing CC returns means the Ult -> 2 an imp combo isn't going to have a very long stun but enough to drop your 3 and your 1 before smacking shit up.
Also noticed that you can stack your 1 off of summoned minions. So matchups like Nu-Wa, Bastet, Kuzenbo, Baka, Arachne, and Tiamat might be really good matchups for him. Getting extra 1 stacks off of the other players summoned minions means you can ramp up so much faster, or at least more consistently than only having the wave minions and jungle.
10 second cooldown means 3 stacks per wave if played perfectly but that's also sacrificing pressure to get the procs (if it's only the first hit that can get stacks. If you can miss the first attack in the chain and stack multiple from the AOE auto then you'll be able to stack faster and keep pressure). It might seem counter intuitive but cooldown reduction might be super strong on him. Not for the fighting potential, but just for being able to stack faster and power scale into the late game.

This gods 1 reminds me of nasus from league of legends where stacking that is paramount. Like grabbing stack from it every time it’s off cooldown.

Idk if it's a visual bug or not but when Sam ults at 26:30 his ult critted a minion with one of the falling meteors and Idk if it's something I missed or if they explained. Also if it does that's pretty cool.
I saw that too, if that's the case it's hands down the best ability. A Self Banish Ult that that can crit before the main attack even hits.
Considering that autoing something with the 1 is the only other way to spawn imps, maybe the small meteors are coded as autos or something?
@@jonaspolaris7654 yeah they're probably coded as such but even if it is a bug or something it is a pretty cool side tech of running crit but I think crit surtr isn't prob viable on paper.

So can you get the minions low, activate your 3 and then your 1 without auto attacking so the 1 stays active. And then let your 3 kill the minions to get all of the stacks?
Hey fr, I’d love a commentary on the patch notes. I work 9 hour shifts and constantly use CZcams to pass the time just listening to content, so I prefer long-form audio style videos during the day. Also that god looks sweeet
So max stacks on that 1 is going to be 630 magical damage and then small tick hits that will be so much damage if you can stack it that much.
He both looks and felt like Gilgamesh in my opinion. VERY good hybrid between auto attacks and ability based

i think if you want to go damage surtr ability build with hydras is best, can get some very nasty auto cancels
@samdadude Maybe try activating the 1, then swing an auto to miss then swing again at two minions with the cleave attack and see if that stacks it twice!! I know, I'm a genius.

could you try and miss the first auto after activating your 1? not sure if the ability ONLY buffs the exact first auto or just the first auto that *hits* so maybe you could hit with the cleave first if you purposefully miss the initial auto
I was thinking the same thing. it does say successful basic attack so I think this would work, and will be the way to use it. youd be getting stacks 3x as fast, maybe even 6x if you could get all the minions grouped.

Sam Crusher got worse it cost 300 more and the passive actually do less after the first ability (50% damage) so it is better for the first ability and worst for the following abilities. and the 15 base pen is better than 10% depend on the situation. so it is 300 gold for a bit more power
