- Though my last video
• British Airways 777 Lo...
has been well received to date, I was disappointed by the audio of my Panasonic Lumix TZ10 compact camera. It does a great job of recording HD video but the audio is simply not up to capturing the nuances of engine startup and the take-off roll.
So on my most recent Jamaic trip I took along the heavy artillery :) - a much larger Panasonic HDC-HS300 semi pro camcorder with built-in Dolby Digital 5.1 microphone. It does a fantastic job of reproducing the audio - in particular the deep bass of the engine start. For best results I recommend you use headphones or quality speakers.
This flight was flown by aircraft G-VIIP, which is a Boeing 777-236 powered by 2 x General Electric GE90-85B turbofan engines. I flew on the Rolls Royce powered G-YMMR on the way out -
• British Airways 777 - ...
As BA have relaxed their restrictions on the use of portable electronic equipment (other Airlines please take note ...) I was able to capture the complete pushback, engine start, taxi and takeoff into a fantastic sunset.
The climb-out view of Jamaica over the southeast corner, as seen from the left hand side of the aircraft is simply awesome - beats Barbados I'm afraid! The flight was pretty heavily loaded and the take-off on this occasion seemed particularly powerful.
This is the full 2.8Gb raw AVCHD video from my camcorder.
Apologies for the voice that can be heard at the beginning of the video. This was the passenger sitting adjacent to me, who was still on his mobile phone at the beginning of the pushback.
so much power in the 777s. what a beast of a plane.
Goosebumps everywhere. That’s probably the best audio of a GE90 I’ve ever heard
Totally agree, the growl on the GE90-85/90/94B is awesome. Hearing the N1 spin-up to manufacturer design loads and deliver 85,000lbs of thrust, excellent!!!
The memories come flooding back. The last time I saw that view was 20 years ago. Thanks for the amazing post.
Still to this day, after many years, this will go down as an all time favorite. Just exquisite footage of one of mankind's greatest inventions.
@smoshjkl Thank you for kind words.
That grind though on the GE90s perfection!
i have to say...i could never get tired of seeing or watching an airplane taking off...like this one! thanks for the video..as always..thank you to all of the pilots out there..every time i flew...i always said thank you to the crews!!!!
Epic thrust reduction.
No tourist literature beats this video ! This is the more reason why I have to pay a visit to the Caribbeans ! Thanks for sharing this all educative video .
Thanks for this vid. The journey across my home is beautiful. Now I know how the other side of the hills to the eastern end of the island looks.
One of the best, lots of time recording climb-out. Thanks
Beautiful Jamaica, Beautiful Aircraft and a awesome video :D definitely going to my favs
This video ranks among the best in terms of scenery and presentation. Barbados, the view of the eastern tip of the island took my breath away! Imagine only seen it in drawings until now!
Thank you for posting the full thing. Never a fan of the edited ones which cut at random points and, god forbid, plaster music over the sounds of the engines..
Thank you for the feedback. Most compact cameras have noise reduction technology that result in engine startup and takeoff roll being muted. A medium to high spec camcorder or camera is a must. I'm not a fan of music either - it almost always ruins aircraft videos. I try to capture the complete takeoff except for some of my later videos which suffer from camera overheating.
Thank you. What a wonderful engine. You captured it well.
Those GE90's are something else!
autopilot took over almost immediately after takeoff which they do for 95% of the flight awesome video and i love aviation soooo much
Excellent video. Sweat GE-90 sound.
Just wow. Speechless.
Always a sad feeling leaving Jamaica behind 😌😌But wow that coast line😍😍
Awesome!!! Great job!!
John !! Thank you - appreciate the feedback.
brilliant video ...thanks so much ...one day I would love to visit this beautiful Island....God Willing.
+Quentin Burns Thank you for the feedback. Hope you get to viisit some day - well worth it.
Superb
Thank you!
Thumps up really enjoy
Wow, what a view.
+coashddjj2 Yes Indeed - nothing beats the take-off view from the left hand side of the aircraft - there is virtually no view on the right hand side. I'm looking forward to revisiting this video later this year with my Sony NEX-5T camera. The NEX-5T produces much better colours in my humble opinion.
Thank for the video that puts me to sleep :)
Love the wing flex on Boeing planes
This is why I love CZcams , excellent video sir and thank you for sharing it. The BA pilot is so gutsy to make that left out of Kingston and fly over The Blue Mountains ( 7400 Ft high) , The Americans usually make a right after clearing runway 12 , fly back over Kingston Harbor and fly through the John Crow Mountains to Cuba and then make a slight left over central Cuba to arrive in Miami ....very conservative style but effective.
Thank you for the kind words townman1. As far as the flight path is concerned my impression was that this is the standard flight path for London. On my last flight it was rather stormy and the pilot choose not to turn inland, but followed the south east coast along instead.
as a student pilot myself looking to fly the 777ER hopefully, thats was the normal path heading north East to englad
quite nice
Great video, thanks for sharing.
egyptianminor Thank you!
Awesome
Sexy engine sound! Awesome video my friend ;). Waiting for more ;)
My London Gatwick to Kington video is now uploading. It is a whopping 3.6Gb in length and will take several hours to upload. Hopefully it will be worth the wait.
***** Please let me know when that video is completed, :)
***** Someone at BA appears to have been listening to you! LOL!
If you check out the route tracker on this website:
www.thebasource.com
You will see that over the last month - 16 of the 19 London Gatwick to Jamaica flights have been operated by "G-VII" series aircraft, which are GE90 powered.
Sad to say I'm going away. Won't be back for many days
interesting how the engine sound just fades away as it gradually climbs higher
[insert name here] Ive always liked that. It's from the wind noise from the increase speed of the aircraft
GE90 FTW
Will there be a boeing 797 which is like the antonov an-225?
Flying to London in two days. This is the closest thing to a dress rehearsal......LOL!!!!
Thanks
Did you fly to London on BA2262 on Sunday 29th March 2015? If so then you were on the same flight as me! I was hoping to video the flight but unfortunately the aircraft left over an hour late and so it was dark by then. I didn't bother as I've yet to find a camcorder that can cope with a night takeof. I hope you got a seat on the left hand side of the aircraft as there is almost no view on takeoff from the right hand side.
does anyone else hear the buzz/rattle sounds from the engine?
I have been on this very aircraft.
Are you sitting near a galley?
On taxi, sounds like a lot of boxes and trolleys being open and shut
Stu Shepherd Yes - I'm seated in 4A, which is my favourite seat on the GE-90 777s. It is at the end of the forward cabin and so you don't have to step over your seat-mate's legs when exiting this window seat. It is indeed quite near to the forward galley
Wow! Very high thrust takeoff!! Did it feel more powerful than previous times that you've flown on the T7?
smoshjkl - Checking back I answered a similar question a while back - This flight was quite heavily loaded I seem to remember and the takeff was particularly powerful. The GE90s are massive beasts and make light work of any load.
+BArBAdos Fan in general the BA 777-200's are really fast/powerful. Especially with GE90's. Seem to roll shorter down the runway than other T7's.
The GE90 is just a beast and doesn’t care about being very heavy loaded
I heart non-derated takeoffs.
Im pretty sure the plane derated at 13:44
Haha here's where I show how much a nerd with how much spare time I am - you're correct that they reduced thrust, but that's climb thrust, which they put into the FMC. The derate has to do with what the engines kick out at TOGA (take off go around) power, so pilots will use methods to "fool" the fmc into thinking it's at TOGA at takeoff, even though the engines aren't at full power. As I understand it, when the "climb" phase of the flight kicks in, the FMC more-or-less starts from "scratch", so the deration doesn't relate. That's why sometimes climb thrust is *greater* than takeoff thrust. Damn I'm a geek;)
Nathaniel Smith
Late reply, but is this like the Flex Temp on an airbus? The part where you said about "fooling" the fmc
How high are the mountains in Jamaica? Because when the flaps were retracted you were about the same height as the mountains.
Blue Mountain Peak is 7402 ft tall. and some of the other peaks within the blue mountain range are around 7000 ft or so.
pete clarke ever hike any of them ??
+SKBenergy Ive always wanted to , maybe if I found a group who wanted to do so.
Excellent video, thanks, did the takeoff feel very powerful ?
Thank you. Yes indeed it was a powerful takeoff. I've flown several dozen 777 flights over the years and this ranks among the top in terms of power.
You`re welcome, and thanks for your reply.
Full power is required to make that take off at NMIA with the 777
A flight review would be kwl
Could I use the audio in your video for my video? By the way: It is a Infinite Flight Realistic take off video, Just gaming stuff:)
12:30 take off
Nice video :) this is making me home sick :/
Thank you. I'm not a native but I'm missing Jamaica too :)
***** Beautiful Jamaica. Thank you for this video.
Hey friend I'm going on a ba 747 world traveler plus What seat do you recommend where I can see the blades of the engine for recording
***** Sorry for the late reply - just back on my latest holiday. I'm afraid I can't answer your question as all of my flights are on Boeing 777s. BA haven't flown B747s to the Caribbean for over 2 decades now :( On the 777 you can only see the blades of the engines from Club World. Hopefully someone who has flown the B747 can answer your query.
thanks
Amazing video ! What is that high mountain on 18:00 ?
+Sacha Al-Aref HD Videos and Time Lapses Thank you! I believe that mountain is Blue Mountain Peak. If you search on Blue Moutain Peak you should see a number of CZcams videos covering the trail to the peak.
Alexander also home to the Best Coffee in the world . It is so good the Japanese bought the beans from that region even before they are reaped. It is called Blue Mountain Coffee.
Blue Mountain Peak
did this aircraft have the new refurbished seats
+Jemel DAVIS-ABBOTT Sorry for the late reply - I never got a notification on your comment. I flew in business class - the busines class seats have not been refreshed for several years now.
mautu ioapo british airways b777 300 kingston jamaica full take off and climb out thonk you youtube videos goodday by now mautun ioapo in my loaptop compter thonk you 10.7.2014
I never heard of a 777 - 236. Is a 236 a 777 - 200ER?
elephant35e basically. the "36" added on is just BA's config.
The last two Numbers refers to the company that belongs the Aircraft 36 is for BA. 22 is for United so u have 777-222. 206 is for KLM. 28 is for Air France 777-328Er so on. Each airline has a référence number.
+Jarvis He 30 1 Realmente
beautifull take off..is 777 Nice airplane..well cz is Boeing..the best..what engine is power this one? RR..or GE..
coyote 66 GE
coyote 66 GE90-115 b
Micheal Storch NOT a GE90-115B. Those are only on the 300ER and 200LR. BA doesn't have the 200LR
It sounds like half rolls Royce half ge 90 I'm not dumb I know the difference this one is a ge
You can't have a mixture of engines on a 777, some are equipped with Rolls Royce, and some are equipped with GE engines
If you want a view of the engine like that, get a high pay rate job and save up!!! Business class can be expensive £€$¥₩!!!
BRITISH PILOT;S GOOD TAKE OFF. THANK IS DUE TO PILOT
SELIM AHMED da fuq is dis
lol....... what?
Notice the water off the runway being sucked in just after 12:40
OneLegendTV Yes. That's what it is
No tourist literature beats this video ! This is the more reason why I have to pay a visit to the Caribbeans ! Thanks for sharing this all educative video .
Thank you for the comment. Appreciated. There are quite a number of Caribbean islands, each different in their own way, to choose from.
GE90 FTW
