  • Brooklyn's Lucius is an instantly joy-making band, even before you hear them play, thanks to the band's elaborate matching outfits. But as soon as you hear the band's catchy songs -- such as "Don't Just Sit There", it's impossible not to get caught up in the band's charming pop songwriting. With the vibrant, almost '60s girl group vocal harmonies from Jess Wolfe and Holly Laessig and the guitars and thundering floor toms and backing vocals of Danny Molad, Peter Lalish and Andrew Burri, Lucius delivered a winning performance in the Soundcheck studio.

I would like to see them perform live! I used to drive to Austin Texas and catch all and any free live shows but I haven't been able to go in awhile my life has just gotten to hectic lately

Word of advice: if Lucius is playing somewhere near you, GO. They put on an excellent, authentic, vivacious show. They'll make your heart tingle with their lovely harmonies. :)

Guys, as a Sound Engineer I can say that this mix is not THAT bad. Guitar clearly not too loud, if it's too loud for you, get some stereo headphones, or speakers for that matter. But try headphones.
In fact, the problem is not the guitar being too loud, but, in my opinion, the other instruments being too quiet. For me those wonderful voices are clearly audible and exactly in the right place, placed firmly to one side respectively.
Just my two cents, I'll hear more of them about.. now!

These guys are just phenomenal... I really wish I knew when they planned on releasing a full album! Anyone have any clue? Please and thank you and have a nice day! :D

i like this version better, with all the harmonies.

Within the first few seconds of this, I had the same reaction: what's up with the mix? It definitely doesn't fit the band or the song. But it seems they found at least one person who knows how to mix them. The engineering and mix on "How Loud Your Heart Gets" (also on CZcams, but I'm not allowed to link to it) are stunning.

And they always play like this, I was actually thinking the exact same thing when I heard the their Threadless HQ performance. They need a better sound mixer. Still, they are wonderful!

I agree. And I really overstepped it when I said that the vocals "are Lucius". It really is the whole band (imagine them with a really cheesy smooth guitar section), but even so, the vocals need to be front and center.

Sounds like American version of "Cranberries"
    Love 'em.

Why is the guitar louder than the vocals? The vocals IS Lucius!
The sound mixer needs his ears tweaked.
