I just watched The Flying Scotsman ,movie about Obree tonite.Boy,I was in tears to see how his life was such a mixed with joy and sadness. He beats all the odds by doing something good,cycling. God bless him and his family.Don't care if he is a bipolar or not, that's a part of life when someone has a bad childhood like him.

As far as I know the film was pretty much true to life, aside from Hein Verbruggen's name being changed, and the bit about the '94 Worlds where Graeme crashes in the film. In reality Verbruggen stepped out onto the track and physically stopped him from riding!
Watched the movie last night on BBC. Don't really know how true the film is, seems somewhat exaggerated at times but you can't deny the real Obree determination and ingenuity. I was was kind of sad to learn he didn't like Mike Burrows' bike though, as Burrows would later design my bike, a Giant MCR.

You all miss the point, read the UCI rules, the record is split into two sections,normal bikes like mosers, and streamlined bikes. And that is only fair, but all partisipants are pushing the boundaries, no one can doubt Obrees talent, guts,and sheer determination, be happy that the record, even now, is in the united kingdom.
Kind of funny them calling him an "amateur" when he was World Pursuit Champion at the time......... He'd just smashed Olympic champion Chris Boardman a few months earlier in the individual pursuit and Graham was also the individual pursuit world record holder at the time. The media do romanticise the story a bit. Graham was a world class, cyclist with Tour De France teams scouting him. He didn't appear out of nowhere

The Tour teams blacklisted Obree because they wanted him to take EPO and other drugs, and Obree declined. Major shame, imagine the possibilities of Obree in the grand tours, criteriums and single-day races.
Obree didnt use big money but his position on the bike WAS more aero and it was faster than what Moser used. If it was not he would have stood ZERO chance of beating Moser because Moser had a far higher average power output than Obree IMO.
I like him better than Lance Armstrong. At least Graeme Obree has gotten more than just a drive to succeed, he didn't try to let his bipolar illness get the best of him. He's my real inspiration. Lance Armstrong proved to me that he's really no Graeme Obree. And yes, he really also have a brilliant idea to convert something that was formerly part of a washing machine to a bike. I have never seen anyone who is as brilliant as he is.
u realize u completly refuted your statement by saying IMO? if its your opinion it doesnt actually mean anything, also its not just average power output, nor did u state the length of time which he has a higher average output, nor was cadence or VO2 max taken into account by what you said moser had a higher power output, which may be true but doesnt mean hes faster over an hour. look at the numbers, after an hour obree had a farther distance

He certainly is! I managed to speak to him at revolution 15 and he fully lived up to my expectations. Genius!
