I think that if people wanted something flexible with ultra sound control and features, then go get a workstation. There are lots of persons that would rather get a synth with great real time hands on control (like past century analog poly-synths), and in my book the Nord Lead series has always been the top of the line for this kind of market. We do not need features, we need a good sound and instant tweakability.
He's probably still working his way around the Andromeda's twenty thousand pots - that appeared to be the latest addition to his synth collection on his website.
I loved my Nord Lead 2x before selling it for a Roland GI. Now that I think about it, I may just buy a Nord Wave over a Nord Lead. I love the fact that you can download the patches from the Nord library and sample your own sound, which none of the Leads can do.
Wooow - love it, brilliant sounding synth engine and a beautiful synth. But no aftertouch? With such an expressive sound it's a baffling choice to leave that out.
If they added a proper Display, and Total integration with sound through USB, it would have been perfect for me. But I think it is still good. I like the sounds from this demo. None the less, Clavia is high quality.
Congrats Clavia! Love this new baby... but still love my nl2x (no aftertouch, no external inputs ... :( it has some great new feature but there's no any reason to sell my 2x)
I love Nord but I don't need the hardcore synthesis side of things in terms of sound generation so I'm planning on buying the Wave instead as I use a lot of samples like drums, old synths, Fairlight/Emulator sounds etc. :) This thing looks great btw!
Obviously they have to make what sells. Which I am actually surprised at a new lead as they are really into the making/selling of the electros and organs. I too wish they would make another modular, if not a G3 maybe some sort of new micro modular would be great as well. The modulars are really way more interesting than most synths available stilI. I was not really impressed w/this like I thought I would be.I'll stick to the G2 and a lead 1,2,3 until the future brings us what we REALLY want ;)
I really like the guy demoing the synth, heh.. aside from a big downsides the NL sounds amazing as usual! No arguments please ;) I also think the rack is a work of art! One day, maybe... :)
I use a G1 and a Nord 3 and after these 2 synth's i never saw anymore Clavias that i would really dream of...It's kind of like Roland these days, just using the epic names to sell some synths. Hope it's like a transitional thing :)
Christ that sounds amazing!!! Even better, than I expected...I fear, that I must condemn my self to only eat rye bread until summer. And this "Swedish synths must die if they pay salaries for their workers" -meme needs to stop today! This is 500€ LESS expensive, than the other widely accepted VA synth series evolution is.
But there's no practical way to SAVE edited drums.(you need a PCMCIA card) And i found they never really 'punch' like a 909,just soft 'bump' like a 707. They also can behave erratic if you try to tweak them on the fly. Next to my Waldorf Attack the kicks/snares sound tame. Good for synth percussion bleeps and FM glitch stuff. I would like to see more of this one though, sounds sweet
I have to reiterate that as a buyer and user of high-end synthesizers, I expect a keyboard in this price range to have aftertouch. In fact, I like programming and playing patches that have aftertouch as part of my personal style and will not consider buying a new board without it. So I will not buy a Nord Lead 4.
fuck modulars. You just guys seems like from a sect. ''Modular would be coool, it has not aftertouch, i cant call my patches bla bla...". There is plenty of soft, even modulars. Why do we need more? I dont want sitting before my comp and combining modules. This synth has limits, but they intentional - for productivity. And it has many cool features and possibilities as well. And no one electronic music instrument do feel like Clavia's nords. They are very quality instruments and sound great.
Hmm... Not the best new product imo of the Music Messe. This new nord is only for rich people, not real musicians (who are poor anyways). I am with Novation and Korg on this one.
Pointless overpriced piece of swedish crap. in 2013 I would have expected something more. Ok, it has come to this century somehow, effects, wavetables... if it costed as much as an M-audio Venom it could make sense as competition, comparing it to a Blofeld which costs half or so, is ridiculous feature wise. Why didn't they keep developing the NL3, the G2? Everything in their line imports samples why can't this? a high end synth with no aftertouch and only 1 filter in 2013 is almost offensive
I do not want it to be out, because i do not want to buy this keyboard with prehistoric technologies, while modern computer software are alot supperior to this junk. I think Uhe Diva is better VA then this... I better give my money to companies who care about musicians and want to create the best possible products no metter what but not for thouse junk companies who make a small tweaks and then sell it as a brand new product...
I love the "Bite" that the Nord Lead series always has.
If they release a Nord Rack 4, I am in!

WOW - love the aggression in those filters
The first thing I thought was 'I hope Jexus gets one so I can hear what this thing can really do.'
thanks, Nick!
I have just about every analog synth ever made and all I can say is the Nord stuff sounds AMAZING.
Hyper rich sound .. welcome back Clavia...
Already got 3 Nords ... really need this one too! :-P

87PM Music Do most people use aftertouch? I know I do not.

thx u nick !
sweet man
Will we get to see the Nord Drum 2?!
Beast!
very nice! I want one :-)
Hahah I knew I wasn't the only one to notice this
10:09 love it! really good sounds
Load Ladder filter, crank resonance, sweep, load 303 filter and repeat. Please
This great for emulating 70's and 80's synths...which I think was what they're trying to do to some extent
Yes, Clavia synths have always sounded plastic. I like the Modular for its flexibility but not that much for its sound.
Congrats Clavia! Love this new baby... but still love my nl2x
(no aftertouch, no external inputs ... :( it has some great new feature but there's no any reason to sell my 2x)
He might put out a Roland GAIA demo before the A6.
Almost 10 years ago when introduced at the Musik Messe. What a synth 🤩- When will the Nord Lead 5 arrive?
I’m in the fence for a nl2X but wondering about a nl5
@@rabbitnoize perhaps some day... Just a wild guess...
11:23 to 12:15 - it's Jexus's dad! - you know who I am talking about!
please can we have an MFB Dominion 1 exclusive! :)
Scott Kinsey should demo this!
The demos reminded me of Dune for some reason lol.
Yeah I was like....errrr awkward !
yep. you can on the nl 2x anyway.
I love Nord but I don't need the hardcore synthesis side of things in terms of sound generation so I'm planning on buying the Wave instead as I use a lot of samples like drums, old synths, Fairlight/Emulator sounds etc. :) This thing looks great btw!

Or independent FM/Sync for each OSC

news is section effects......fantastic wonderffull......clavia is the newroland of europe
..it would be interesting to see what would come out off this machine, in the hands of Chris Lowe, or Vince Clarke
Christ that sounds amazing!!! Even better, than I expected...I fear, that I must condemn my self to only eat rye bread until summer.

Why did they have to ditch the super pretty led knobs from NL3?
at 11:06 the Nord shines....
hi Nick
The Nord Lead probably sold better than the Modular?
but does it have syncable arp and lfo this time?
No aftertouch? I guess that aftertouch is just plain out these days :'(

there's no such thing as 'intentional mistakes'
what the heck did he just say at 2:11 ?!?!?

Sounds lovely to me. Of course all this can be done with vsts but it's a nice hardware alternative.
12 years later and no VST plug-in integration like Access Vitus TI?
Boooooo
stop changing chords - I want to hear it groove
No Aftertouch. tsk2x
"7:12 .... wo ist der schwarze gaffa...?"
Хороший апарат...но не надо так сильно щелкать по кнопкам.......
No after touch, all right, other ways to give emotions instead of...
not bad i didnt like my 2x sold it got a virus

Lol rotary encoder = problems guaranteed
haha
Not with ableton push :)
How about actually playing some music on it please. Nice sounds wasted by lack of forethought !.
sounds so plastic! I think Uhe Diva is miles ahead of this...
Hmm... Not the best new product imo of the Music Messe. This new nord is only for rich people, not real musicians (who are poor anyways). I am with Novation and Korg on this one.
Not impressed in the slightest. Thanks for the overpriced, featureless red thing, Clavia.
Wow?... No, Sir. You bored with your innovations. Music is not getting any better.
