In my opinion, this is the best truck you've done with your videos. My biggest complaint with any chassis cab Ram 4500/5500 or F450/550 chassis cab is the detuned engines and overly low gearing. I think the standard F450 with the 4.30 is overkill but at least it's not something like the 4.88, etc.
Today's diesels are loaded with power. Pulling a fifth wheel weighing less than 25,000 lbs is not a huge deal for the 500hp &1000 ft/lb of torque. Let the truck do its thing. We're not using these trucks to sit around the construction site all day and pull excavators out of the quarry. We're pulling our campers down the interstates and occasionally through the mountains. I don't think the Power Stroke or Cummins will have any concerns being set up for maximum power. I would imagine even a 4.10 gear or maybe even a 3.73 would suffice. But for now, I'll take the regular F450 and let you do your thing.
    Thanks for sharing.

@James McLamb I appreciate the kind words and your opinion.
I agree with you completely about the Pros and Cons of the Pickup VS Chassis Cab. I have this discussion with customers multiple times per week. The pickups and the RAM Chassis Cab are capable of the 43,000 GCWR (Ford F-550 40,000 GCWR currently) that exceeds what a 26,000LB 5th Wheel RV weighs combined with the 10,500LB truck. So pulling it isn't the issue for either BUT the pickups do it with a TALLER gear ratio because they have more horsepower and torque. The Chassis Cab achieves it by having the LOWER gear ratio. Now granted the pickup is going to win this battle every time in drag race or up a grade.
The flip side of the coin where the pickup tends to struggle (at least on paper) is the lesser GVWR 14,000LB cap for a Class 3 truck which in compass all of the big (3) DRW trucks. So even though the Ford F-450 being built heavier bigger brakes, bigger axle shafts, rear end etc etc... it is capped at 14,000Lbs the typical payload of a Limited Ford F-450 is around 4,700 Lbs. where as the RAM 5500 and the Ford F-550 Chassis Cab can be ordered with a 19,500 GVWR. This allows you typically up to 10,000Lbs of payload with the Ford F-550 and 9,000LBs of payload with the RAM 5500 (believe or not the Ford F-550 weighs in almost 1,000Lbs les than the RAM 5500) after we've finished our typical upfit.
The payload is typically our concern here when we're pairing pickups with our LUXE 5th wheels WHEN they want to add the hauler bed to the pickup. Our bed weighs more than the factory bed which cuts into the payload that is already very close to maxed out and then doesn't leave you the ability to load the compartments with all your goodies or even be able to consider adding an aux. fuel tank for extended range.
Again I really do appreciate these types of conversations. I think anyone that reads this that has weighed the pros and cons themselves should find this type of info very helpful when they take the time to read through it and unpack what's being discussed here.
Stay Safe and Keep on Truckin

@@haulertrucks Excellent point. I hadn't even considered the weight of a custom hauler bed versus the stock truck bed.
For what it's worth, my last truck we had for our camper was a 2017 F450. I had a 91 gallon RDS auxiliary tank installed in the bed. Full of fuel (roughly 135 gallons) and with our toy hauler at the time, the 3500 lb pin weight pushed us over the GVWR of the truck itself. Only by a few hundred lbs. but we were still over. I'm sure most Luxe toy haulers far exceed that.
No excuse at all but down here in the south, nobody really cares about that in terms of law enforcement. But yes, I was technically overloaded.

F450 in Limited trim? Was this a cab and chassis 450 or was it the Super Duty version and you replaced the bed? If cab and chassis, I didn't know you could get it in a Limited. Future customer here 💪

RobDob this is a Ford F-450 SuperDuty Pick up that started with the factory bed and we replaced it with ours. You're completely correct as of filming this the only way to get a Limited is by purchasing the pick up. Ford doesn't offer the LIMITED option in the Chassis Cab trucks.
