  • The Airoh GP550S helmet is Airoh’s most advanced sports helmet yet, following on the highly successful GP500 model. We're taking an in-depth look at this leading sports bike helmet that pulls double duty as a race helmet as much as a comfy road helmet.

    I got one and I'm very satisfied! If it fits your headshape it's a very nice helmet for this money. I went for the white one (a little bit safer but still looks good, especially with the dark smoke visor). Thanks a lot for helping along!

    Great review. Do you mind mentioning the fit style as in suited for round or oval etc? I am looking for an everyday helmet for commuting and not sure if race ready, internal sun visor or modular is best. No track days for me unless school as return rider after 23 years absence.
    If you have videos on this subject then please direct.
    BTW, I've read a lot of your comments and pleasantly surprised at how generous you are with you time and information. Subscribed instantly.

    • @bikeit665
      @bikeit665  Před 2 lety +2

      @@ROTlNAJ The GP550 is the most race orientated helmet Airoh offer and is fairly track-focused in its design and features. It'll work perfectly well on your GS and/or for touring but you may also want to look at the Airoh Commander as a very popular alternative.

    Actually this is an overview...
    A review for a helmet should be on the road,
    testing aerodynamics, acoustics, breathability, waterproofing etc...
    Nicely overviewed but nothing different than a brochure!

      The GP550S is a very good helmet, it is more sports-focused than touring focused (i'd say) but it'll happily do both. Though if you're looking for something a little more all-day/all condition versatile, it may well be worth checking our Airoh Spark, which is still sports styled but has the additional benefit of a flip-down internal sun visor. It comes in some awesome Matt and Gloss colour options too. Check them out!

      It is a race helmet... not a "tourism" product. I think you are looking at the wrong helmet in that sense...

    Hi, the gp550s or the scorpion EXO r1 air, would you chose?

    • @bikeit665
      @bikeit665  Před 2 lety +4

      Hi Loukas, I've not used or seen an Scorpion EXO R1 myself, I used to use a Shoei XR1100, which I really rate VERY highly but have since transitioned across to an Airoh GP550S personally and I really love it, using it on track and on the road. It looks great, feels great, is quiet and has loads of awesome features packed within it.
      Looking at the Scorpion EXO, you do get a Carbon Shell whereas the Airoh is High-Performance Composite (HPC), both equally strong but the Scorpion will be slightly lighter, about 100g (1300g vs 1200g). Looking at the Airoh you do get a better-ventilated helmet and, personally, I think a better-looking helmet too, especially on the side profile, I love the Matt finish graphics too. On my GP550S I noticed how wide the field of view is which is always a big plus and the inclusion of a tinted visor FREE (and Pinlock insert free too) with every GP550S is really awesome too and super easy to fit too.
      Ultimately it comes down to your own personal preference but the GP550S does have a very impressive spec list and is able to compete with the very best helmets out there on the market and should definitely be considered!
      I hope that helps, if you've got any other questions please do get in touch.

      @@bikeit665 thank you for your time and your small review! I have been using the last 4 years an older scorpion EXO 2000 air (the package included clear, smoked visor, pinlock) the quality is great, it is lightweight, the ventilation is awesome, with a bit of noise after 140km/h and I am looking for a new successor helmet! Unfortunately, the shoei helmets (tried the nxr, x-spirit 3) does not fit my head size! I will probably go for the gp550s! I like the graphics!
