Rerailing KiwiRail DCP4830 and the turning of DC4790 on the Otiria Triangle

  • In Mid-Feb DCP trailing loco on the Otiria Shunt derailed negotiating the double slip points in the Otiria Yard. The experienced track gang soon had the loco back on to the rails. The main part of the video you will see the lead loco separate, turn on the triangle and rejoin the DCP, it was done very quickly and the video was nearly shot in real time

    I went up to Otiria with Kevin Bain several times(2002/2003).The sound of the DFT/DC in run 8 up the Towai bank is something I'll never forget.A true friend who will always be missed.R.I.P Kevin.

    Yeah saw this - think it was built on the alignment of the Okaihau Branch, didn't realise that it was built so recently though
