  • From boat racing to boat building, the list of names in the high-performance marine industry with more overall experience than Jeff Harris, the chief operating officer of Fountain Powerboats in Washington, N.C., is extremely small. Not only is the low-key Southern gentleman a multi-time world champion, Harris was among Fountain Powerboats' earliest employees and he actually helped company founder Reggie Fountain, Jr., lay up his first boat.
    Want to find out how Harris has continued to stay out front? I saw my first Fountain in 1981 when I was 10 years old and dreamed of owning one ever since. I just bought an 01 29 Fever at 50 years old.

    Great episode. Bought my Fountain 12 years ago and don't ever intend parting with her. They get in your blood and create some spectacular memories. Congrats to Jeff and team for resurrecting the brand.

    Good video. Thank you. I knew quite a bit about Reggie Fountain but I didn't know about Jeff Harris. He has quite a history as well.

    Wow nice video! Its music to my ears when you see a Fountain roaring through the Pamlico River heading towards Ocracoke! I really love what has been coming out boat wise from MTI, and especially Midnight Express. All these boats owe their ohmage to Fountain Power Boats. When you see a Fountain these days its like seeing Michael Jordan. Its a special moment and they are in a league of their own. I hope the Fountain soars even higher and one day maybe consider building an ULTRA PWC. Its gonna be nice to see those Mercury 500R motors ripping the water behind a Fountain soon in the River. Reggie has always been a cool dude and its good to see the company going the right direction with new leadership and vision. See you guys on the River this weekend! Thanks for the video!

    Conflict with fountain and mti(regi and randy) doesn’t make a lot of since to me because mti would never make a performance V and fountain wouldn’t have made a cat back then

      prolly business politics and closed office door tensions ... all great companies have it

      Yes, I believe that coupled with limited market shares

      @dieseldog00 Před 9 měsíci

      The only V bottom boats MTI builds are the 42, 50, 52 and 57 center consoles. Fountain builds 34' o/b cats now but Reggie has nothing to do with that part. B
      ack in the early days Reggie built a cat and it was involved in a fatal accident. Reggie said he would never build another cat for his customers. That accident scared him.

  • @johnwhitter

    I’m a diehard Fountain fan but go look at their website. They make one….ONE model that’s a traditional go fast that the company was founded on….the 42 Lightning and that’s it!!!! Really disappointing to see. I get it though…the market doesn’t really support them much anymore. Everyone wants the roomy open cockpit and those ridiculous outboards. I hope it’s just a passing fad and they can get back to their roots by building some of the baddest go fasts around.

  • @davidheitman7004
    @davidheitman7004 Před rokem +2

    oh my god! build some smaller fast boats. it's so easy.
