BRO THIS THEME REPRESENTS HER CHARACTER SO WELL???
That air of holiness mixed with this subtle feeling of danger... darkness. It's frightening lowkey. This theme always made me sus of her character
Oh 100% its like, so forbidding in that Overly domineering way. It feels like its trying to overwhelm you and make you subtle fear Rhea without her doing anything
I love it when Seteth confront Rhea while this theme plays in the background. It really shows just how much these two have grown apart over a thousand years. What was once a brother and sister who were close with one another have now devolved into people with interests who clash with one another. Rhea, who will do anything to bring back her mother. And Seteth, who will do anything to protect Flayn.
I always felt like they were sort of foils. Rhea is perpetually stuck in the past trying to bring back sothis and it really seems like Seteth doesn’t really care about that anymore and just wants flayn to have a safe future
@@avej99
It would’ve been very interesting if you could convince Seteth and Flayn to join you in CF, perhaps you could convince them that Rhea has gone completely off the deep end and she needs to be stopped for the sake of the future.
Plus giving them the ability to have support conversations with Edelgard and Hubert would be very interesting and doing so could at least convince Edelgard that her prejudices against the Nabateans were misguided, that way Seteth and Flayn could have a somewhat happy ending where they aren’t forced to flee Fodlan.
Wait what. I just played the GD route, and they never made the brother sister relationship explicit. Holy cow......
@@hyadalko46 Honestly, the exact specifics of how they're related is vague at best. Seteth never talks of Rhea like a sibling, nor does he refer to Sothis as his mother like Rhea does. Furthermore, both Indech and Macuil are referred to by Flayn as uncle, but neither seem to really express any concern for Seiros if they were siblings, and on Crimson Flower if both Seteth and Flayn survive, Rhea speaks of them as if they were not truly Sothis' children like her, saying that she is "the only one left."
TBH, the closest we've ever gotten to an answer is in Seteth and Cyril's A-Support when the latter asks about it. While it's honestly barely less vague than anything else, the implication seems to be that he is actually a Second-Generation Nabatean, explaining why Seiros frames herself as the last living child of Sothis.
@@jonathanjuarez5544 A bit late, but S support arts with Church members while Byleth has darker hair shows that they had thought of it at the very least.
So just some observations:
Sopdet is the Egyptian Goddess of the star Sirius. The Greek form of her name is Sothis.
Seirios (Similar to Seiros) is a greek word meaning Scorching/Glowing from which Sirius gets its name.
So the name of the song could be interpreted as "Gazing at Sothis" and/or "Gazing at Seiros".
I think Gazing at Sothis makes more sense because Sirius is the star Sothis is said to have come from
Wait no I think I may have gotten it
(spoilers ahead)
Usually when this plays is when you're interacting with Rhea, so from your perspective you're gazing at Rhea (who used to be Seiros) and from Rhea's perspective she's gazing at you, who has Sothis' heart
In other words both of the interpretation can be applied at the same time which I found to be very intriguing
@@KitKat-sv9qp OH! That's true!
@@KitKat-sv9qp Wow, that's so thoughtful!
@@KitKat-sv9qp Indeed
Rhea's face is conveying an emotion that doesn't exist
*Rhee*
And what is that
In my opinion, I always saw this portrait of rhea as her trying her best to make it through the days she has left until she sees her mother. Longing, despair, and emptyness
@@theallseer7308 😐this one
The emotion of having to be in three houses.
This song is so unsettling, and it’s really deserving of being Rhea’s theme. Whether the fact that it’s a three beat song instead of four, the main beat in the back being in minor, or the fact that it’s Rhea’s, just helps. It’s there the whole time to make you consider whether if her cause is just.
I love all of rhea's themes.
First one perfectly fits how she's portrayed at the beginning of the game and is just really calming
this one really emphasizes her moral grey area through everything you just said.

@WTFareyouthinking?
It reminds me of the first mission the students are given from Rhea to kill off bandits that were inhabited in the Red Canyon.
Especially, if you play the Black Eagles route, if you select Dorothea to kill off one of the bandits, she'll initiate a window of dialogue with her asking if whether or not killing the church's enemies is included as a part of the church's teachings of seiros. Regardless if she was being serious or not with that line of questioning, it still questions Rhea's character.
_What did you do to that child, Rhea?_
_Nothing... questionable, I hope?_

@@bimmi9008 I will take our dear professor to the Holy Tomb. There...I should be able to see our dearest wishes to fruition.
What I like about this theme is that it perfectly encapsulates what Byleth must be feeling towards the end of White Clouds. It bears the usual theme used for Rhea, which implies that Rhea is still the person that you met, but it sounds ominous, signifying that there is something about her that you’re beginning to discover that puts you ill at ease. Whether she is actually who she says she is and if her cause is just. She has the same warm smile she used to, but there’s something hidden behind it. It’s like the smile she has in the cutscene where you go to meet her during your first day at Garreg Mach.
You know there’s something amiss, but it’s Rhea. You know Rhea. Right?
I love the way you put this into words :D
Ever since I first played this game I’ve found this theme whimsical and some what serene. It’s makes you feel at peace yet very uncomfortable. That’s why this theme makes it in my top 5
This is so perfect for Rhea's theme. It sounds so enchanting, yet so mysterious and like something is off. Like the way the vocals enter right between where you'd expect them to
This song fits Rhea so well : serene yet dark and unsettling. Mysterious, as if it could turn against you at any second

@@bravecereza Seirios is Sirius in greek, and Sothis too in Egyptian Greek, Sothis is an alternate name of the goddess Sopdet, who is said to represent "Brightest of New Year". For Egyptians Sirius appeared every year just before the Nile flood season. She is also associated with a dog-like figure, Sirius (The dog star) being the brightest and main star of the Canis Major constellation.
You are safe but not so is the vibe I'm getting.
Guys, let's stop staring at Sirius. He ain't taking the mask off.

You hear this and you just know there's something off with Rhea...
João Pires
She’s batshit crazy.
It sounds peaceful at first, but becomes more ominous and twisted the longer you hear it.
Definitely something is off, but if you put on her shoes, you pretty much understand her morality and perspective, even some questionable things like keeping Fodlan in a "medieval" age without technological progress, the fear about Agarthans 2.0 (TWSITD) is what made her take that decision, at least that is my interpretation
@SleepyWolf sothis wouldn't do that tho

The most touching and beautiful Theme in FE 3H...So wonderful...
i've never realized how much this song reminds me of my first playthrough 0-0
Rhea fucking unnerves me every time I play this game in every scene she's in, this song is a very big part of why, but just as a whole Rhea is a character that I can imagine Byleth holding nothing but uneasyness towards in any route due to their intertwined past, Byleth not having any sort of strong pro-church opinions and how Rhea treats them as if they've known them her whole life. Truly a terrifying character.
Perhaps an imposing character with a disturbing past, but I'd hardly call Rhea terrifying.
I don't think that about how Byleth feels holds on a Rhea S-support Run of Silver snow.
@@NovarchareskExcept Rhea IS terrifying, in more ways than one. Not only has she held dominion over the Church for over a millenia, she has installed every dogma that would lead the Church of Seiros' dominance over what religions and also what is acceptable or not culturally speaking. She uphelds a very twisted and unfair ideology over Fodlan and only in the goal of resurrecting her mother.
I adore how this song works equally well for both when Rhea is proudly giving you her blessing and your new mission for the month, and when she is swearing to the goddess that she will kill you for what you've done to her.

I might be the only one, but Rhea has to be one of my favorite characters (not S Support thou). I don’t like Edelgard for one, so Rhea gets a point there. Yes I know the whole backstory with Byleth’s mom and Byleth, but something about how she explains it in GD just makes me not hate her. She’s just, awesome. Cherami is just awesome too!

CF was the first route i chose. Every since Rhea killed those criminals instead of sparing them i turned against her, she looked psychotic and vindictive. My unease with her and my love for Edelgard made the choice easy. And to be fair Crimson Flower makes Edelgard a lot less extreme and Rhea more extreme than she is in the other routes, so it makes you second guess things less. Though of all the characters Claude is by the one i'm by far the most ideologically in line with, if i were a three houses character and forced to align with one of the three lords or the church it would be Claude unquestionably, though Edelgard is my favorite character in not just three houses, but the entire franchise and one of my favorite characters in anything ever. Still have yet to play Silver snow, in Feb of 2020 i played through the other 3 routes taking my over 200 hours, plus the DLC, i was completely enthralled but a bit burnt out by the end. My expectations for the next fire emblem are sky high and i have difficulty seeing how they can be met. Other than TH, i've beaten 7-10, and awakening. Would be cool if Nintendo would translate 4, as that is easily the one i want to play most of all the untranslated ones.

Love how to this day camus makes another cameo by having his name in a song

I wonder if Rhea’s birth name is Sirius, and then changed it to Seiros to falsify her identity. That would explain why she dyed her hair yellow during the war of heroes.

Rhea will kill as many people as she has to as long as she can protect the past.
Imo that’s just being overly emotional.
Deception Incarnate I agree. The past is in the past, and the future hasn’t happened yet. She just needs to live in the present and not be so focused on erasing the past and trying to bring Sothis back. The peace she’s helped make is worth focusing on
And Edel will kill as many people as she has to as long as she can protect the future.
Care to explain your point a bit more?
I would love to see your point of view and explain why her behavior is more justified than you think.
Geiler Sack I don’t find some of her behavior all that logical (although she is probably acting more on emotion), but I don’t hate her, so I’d like to hear another take on her actions
@@morganpetty4792 I meant the one who made the comment. However I can also debate with you. Sothis guided Fodlan for a long ass time and it was peaceful until the war of the ancient agarthans (humans) happened. There was some sort of conflict, we don't know much about. But it is clear that humanity started to get arrogant with the "blessings" of the goddess. ("blessings" as in technology, reason and science which led to magic and the goddesses power which repelled evil and can heal the wounded)
Of course she wanted Sothis back to rule as she only died, because of her love to humanity.
(You know, the whole she was slaughtered while she was resting from helping humanity not to go extinct)
Till that happenend she had to roll with the negative impacts of the vengeful agarthans doing.
Sure she tried to bring her back in a very questionable way after the whole chalice thing, but I would rather bring humanity peace by a few questionable experiments rather than with senseless war. Keeping on the futalism she never really wanted, to prevent war is just a horrible idea.
