I've never thought about Chalk paint. How do you prep it before you start painting the rug? Mix it with anything? Did it need to be finished with the wax topcoat, too?

@@stacyqhigginbotham6191 You wet it, then keep wetting it as you add the chalk paint. Paint should be watered down. Check Annie Sloan's video on here for chalk painting fabric - that will give you some ideas. You are in effect dyeing the fabric with paint. I think in the video I'm picturing of, she is painting a French-style armchair in a soft blue.

I painted my rug a few years ago, and am about to repaint it. Just a little tip...if you add equal part water, floetrol and paint to a spray bottle. Shake the mixture every 5ish minutes, spray the rug and use a bristle brush to brush the color into the rug! Doing it this way kept my rug softer, it got a little crunchy but after a day or two of normal use it softened back to normal!

What do y'all think about this project? My boss will have to buy another one. Our maintenance man put BLEACH, of all things, in the carpet cleaner. He's been here 14+ years and did this. ...anyways ..
The plan is to repaint the whole rug back to the original design with the hotel Logo. Y'all believe I can do this in stages and use painters tape and cardboard in order to paint each color separately? I was going to try using the fabric spraypaint by 🌷 Tulip. I need to use what will last the longest. Please let me know what you ladies come up with! Thanks!!

It’s a spray that you use to protect your fabrics. I spray it on my textile shoes & boots, if I think they may ever get wet-I think there’s a special one for suede (I can’t remember); outdoor furniture cushions and pillows; and even doormats that have decorations on them so the rain doesn’t wash it away so quickly. I’ve used it for years!
