After 'The Diary of Alicia Keys', her sound was more and more radio friendly, and seemed to be r&b designed by committee and from the boardroom instead of her expressing herself- sure, she'd always have a good few songs on those 'middle' albums, but this feels more like the personal Alicia Keys from the start of her career.
