    The Story of the Greenbrier line:
    Back in the year 1985, a tropical cyclone managed to make it's way to West Virginia and other neighboring states. On the morning of November 5th 1985, thousands across West Virginia and surrounding areas woke up to one of the worst natural disasters in the state’s history. The flood reached the Greenbrier River and washed out all the rails between Cass and Durbin. Also Know as the Greenbrier Subdivision. But in the month of January in the year of 2023, the line had completely been restored to working order. Over 30 years, the tracks saw no trains. Over 30 years! But thanks to great people of WVDOT and DGRVRR the Greenbrier Subdivision now sees Life!

    Thanks for posting about that awesome attraction.
    I believe that thumbnail is at Durbin. That yellow train depot is very reminiscent of the one in Marlinton, except there are no longer any train tracks going through there.

    Another great Jackson's Drones Production🙃🙃🙃. Cass Scenic Railroad & those Shay (Sidewinder) steam locomotives sure make for a great day of steam fun, based on your awesome video👍. Whilst I love the sound of passing freight trains & especially Amtrak trains, there is something majestic and unique about a passing steam locomotive, especially the sound of its horn as it makes its way along the tracks. The scene when the steam loco was making its way alongside the river was just so graceful. I hope you didn't get any cinders in your eyes this time, Jackson🤞 Appreciate the information you also provided on 'The story of the Greenbrier line'. Thank you for sharing again this wonderful place to visit in your beautiful state of WV - you sure are a great promoter of all the fun & interesting places to visit & explore in WV🙃🙃🙃. As always stay safe both on the road & near rail tracks🙃

      @@jacksonsdrones I also enjoyed watching the other 3 links you provided - Trout Run Bridge, The Cass Scenic Railway & History of Cass. All 3 were very interesting to watch so thank you for including them, Jackson🙃. Cass Scenic Railway sure is a fascinating place to visit - apart from the great steam train rides, the Company Store sure seems like a place one could spend a lot of time just looking around. So pleased that the whole place & the Shay steam locomotives & all the former timber mill & railroad equipment/tools were preserved, for future generations to see & try & understand what life was like back in the days before TV & cars. I noticed one old piece of equipment was built in 1922 - over 100 years old. Anyway, thanks for sharing a great place to visit in your beautiful state of WV, Jackson🙃. Stay safe🙃🙃

    I was looking at a Google Earth view and it appears that there is no way to access the new bridge via road, unless the satellite photos are not recent. They must have used the RR to bring in materials to build the bridge. I see where the road goes along the opposite side of the Greenbriar River outside of Durbin.

    • @jacksonsdrones
      @jacksonsdrones  Před rokem +1

      Yes, I heard the Brought all the materials from Cass, then hauled it by the RR to the site. But yes, there is no way to get out to that Bridge. Unless Kayak!😂 We were actually standing by one of those crane trucks while we were filming the arrival at Durbin. They also had a lot of other RR equipment sitting at Durbin. Thank You For Watching!
