    Andy the hero of the Lune, brilliant rescue andy, not the easiest stretch of river, and speedy too - very grateful; have been looking at a Dagger Mamba, might be more forgiving of crap paddling, but maybe I need to read the water sometimes!!!

    Thats great but it isnt the strid!
    The strid is a short peice of the river belonging to the river Wharfe. I live here. Believe when i say you go in the strid you will not come out alive if youre found at all.
    I visit with my children all the time and i do not let go of their hands while I'm there.

      FinRanomness I know I’m extremely late and you’ve probably figured it out yourself now, but this isn’t the Bolton Strid, it’s another section of a river still referred to as “The Strid”.

      The video title is kind of misleading, though, at least for anyone not familiar with British terrain. A lot of us expected to see some foolish dare-and-rescue on the Bolton Strid. I figured it was just a few dozen yards upstream from there, before it narrows drastically, because there were rapids and moss-covered rocks.

    For those who comment stupid stuff, the strid is deadly, but not as deadly as it seems. The 100% death rate is a rumor, and the place it refers to is a very select area of the strid. While I think nobody died here, he is still VERY lucky. Also, the area where it is extremely deadly has had one survivor. The survivor was a women who was pushed in by her husband, look it up, it’s very interesting. In other areas of the strid, the death rate is still very high, but their have been survivors.
