- ITBC integrated trailer brake control fix. The ITBC on the new GM's will not work with electric over hydraulic brakes, or some trailers with wiring issues. Truck will not sense trailer if trailer brakes are reading over 3 ohms. Single axle should read 2 ohms, double axle should read 1 ohm. Use the light only to diagnose your trailer problem. If the trailer is not being sensed, chances are you have a problem with your electric brakes that needs to be fixed. We ended up having 3 of the 4 brakes not working, ground wires were broke. You can test your trailer right at the plug if you dont have a junction box. Set meter to ohms, black to ground, red to brake wire. if it reads over 3 the ITBC will not sense it. does anyone know if the ITBS has a temporary trailer park brake feature, where if you come to a complete stop KOER you can use the manual slide to engage and lock the trailer brakes on for a period to have enough time to set the mechanical park brake on the trailer. This strange request stems from our towing regulations in New Zealand. I'm trying to comply a 2013 GMC 2500 HD with 5th wheel. NZ LTA wont pass the factory ITBC system for this reason.
I have a 2011 Chevy avalanche that did not come factory with the trailer brakes however I would like to install the OEM trailer brake is the wiring all there so that I can install this in my Chevy avalanche or is it missing some of the components?
I have an 09 Sierra HD with ITBC, and its giving me huge problems. I can't figure out what's wrong with my truck/trailer brakes... Lights on trailer works fine turn signals, 4ways... I'm stumped and so upset about my truck having a piece of junk for brake controller. I don't get it... I've been under the hood in fuse box, hooked up them wires added 30 and 40a fuses... And trailer still has no brakes!! Ran around all over my truck with multimeter... Lights work properly JUST NO BRAKES. And does not recognize the trailer connection either...
load between blu&wht will indicate trailer is present?

i replaced my relay on my 07.5 2500hd an the dic still says service trailer brake..i believe i checked all fuses they all looked good .. anything else i can try??? is it possible to just turn trailer brake off so the warning stops coming up

same issue here. I had all electric brakes serviced on the 2 axel trailer and the truck dont sence or control anything
I would check the brake wiring, I would bet that one or more of the brake wires is broke or not connected
They where actually broken a few wires. And a couple magnets. But they are all repaired and serviced. They do engage manually all of them when I pull the safety pin. It my truck won't read the trailer. I don't know where else to check

If the stupid thing worked properly it would be just great 75% of the time it don't and always something stupid and little chase ground don truck Corrosion under fuse panel any little thing will trigger a code and literally disable the system I have seen a wet plug in the rain set it off and disable the trailer brakes I had to module go out and that flashed my tcm and 700 bucks later for a new tcm Sorry Gm You failed on this one the factory system Is not safe!! It is way to integrated in to the truck
