Sunil Ambekar, RSS senior Pracharak and Organizing Secretary of the ABVP has penned a book on the Sangh providing an insider perspective. From the place of women to homosexuality and from caste to Hindutva, the book covers it all. Ambekar's book was launched by RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat. He speaks to Barkha Dutt in this week's #BehasWithBarkha

"Hindutva" is synonymous with "Inclusivity". When we understand this phrase fully, everyone in India will gladly welcome the concept of "Hindu Rashtra". And, the concept of this Rashtra is cultural and not political

Maratha empire was the last empire before the british took over. Maratha empire was founded on the idea of protecting the Hindu and Maratha identity against the Mughals. That left Maharashtra with a legacy of riches and progressive ideas which continued to develop over the years through the british raj. Eventually leading to folks like Gopal Krishna Gokhale who was a mentor to Gandhi. And those same ideas passed on to people who formed RSS. And that same RSS and it's ideas now rule India. As of today Maharashtra continues to be way ahead in terms of GDP amongst the states with the RSS located at Nagpur. As a Maharashtrian, i feel it's imperative that we as Indians need to move forward aggressively, just like we did years ago. Har Har Mahadev!
Truly a good interaction. Respectful interview by Barkha Dutt. RSS is very much misunderstood. That is my opinion. Let's be respectful towards all, the interviewer and the interviewee. Appreciate any name attached to comments in contrast to synonyms or other handles.
Even I agree that women now have to come to the fore within RSS as well, similar to the fabulous roles they are playing in various fields of life and would certainly add value to the disciplined organization .👍

Term "Hindu" understood as a culture means an Indian who belongs to this culture and could be Muslim , Christian , Boudh or Sikh n so on. But the trouble is people want to associate themselves with the culture from where their religion came from like Muslims want to assiciate with Arab (which they r not). Chistians , many of them don't want to speak any other language than English , some Goans still hv the hangover of Potugese whereas all of them are Indians with a Hindu history.

I heard Sunil Ambekar carefully. Some questions remain unanswered. (1) RSS did not want India to be divided on communal lines. It blames Jinna directly, and some congressmen indirectly for this. Now, my question is if Hindu-Muslim divisive politics was at the root of it, then naturally, those who opposed it must fight the menace of divisive politics on religious lines. However, what the RSS HAS DONE since independence, had further divided these communities. Does it not amount to following Jinnah's politics instead of opposing it? (2) The definition of 'Hindutwa', as the Supreme Court had said and RSS accepted, is "a way of life". I am confused about which way of life is it. Five thousand years ago, during the "Harappan Civilization", people did not live the way we do. The Dravid people lived in India much before the Aryans came. Their way of living was also different. During the Vedic period, there was no taboo on eating any kind of meat. So what 'way of living' the RSS is talking about? Can anyone enlighten me?
