Indeed music. Even in 2021 I am still listening to music from the 60s, 70s decades. I don’t know what happened to the music of today. It just don’t move me.
All time favorite. When music, talent, performance, appearance, dancing was all done nicely fully dressed . So much Class and Style, without taking clothes off . Still listening in my Seventies!
The last big hit that Smokey Robinson wrote and produced as the group’s main producer for the group. Peaked at #29 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #1 on the R&B chart. Lead Vocals by Eddie Kendricks (First Tenor/Falsetto) Background Vocals: David Ruffin(First Tenor), Otis Williams(Second Tenor), Paul Williams(Baritone), and Melvin Franklin(Bass). Additional Background Vocals by the session group the Andantes: Jackie Hicks(Soprano) Louvain Demps(Alto) Marlene Barrow(Soprano)
This 1966 classic lost Smokey Robinson a gig. The go-to songwriter-producer for the Temptations, Smokey thought he had a pop smash here: a groove suited to one of the year’s biggest dance crazes, the duck, and a seductively demanding falsetto vocal from Eddie Kendricks. But though it topped the R&B charts, it stalled at Number 29 on the pop chart. So, when Norman Whitfield’s “Ain’t Too Proud to Beg” charted higher, an impatient Berry Gordy made him the Temptations’ new main producer. Many years later, weirdly, “Get Ready” was a hit for Motown - and for its white rock group Rare Earth.
Watched The Temptations biographical 2 part movie/mini-series (1998) on CZcams a few weeks back. Learned a lot of new things about this great band. Just gotta say I love them! The Temptations have released some perfect hit songs and this one has always been up in my top favs from this genre ❤
That’s James Jamerson, often considered the best bassist of all time. You have a great ear. The drummer is Benny Benjamin, one of the best drummers of all time. Together they made perhaps the best rhythm section is pop music ever.
My favorite Motown song and my favorite song from my alma mater's marching band, Jackson State University's Sonic BOOM of the South. #TheeILove #LuvDaBOOM
#THETEMPTATIONS #GETREADY The Temptations were one of #MotownRecords premiere singing groups. These guys had great harmony. They were the best of the best #EDDIEKENDRICKS #DAVIDRUFFIN #OTISWILLIAMS #MELVINFRANKLIN #PAULWILLIAMS 😄👍👍👍👍👍❤️💝💚💛💜🎸🎹🎷🎺🪘🥁🎸🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Another one of my favorites, this song really makes you wanna dance, I know the dance steps to this, Smooth Harmonies, Smooth Lead by My 2nd favorite member Eddie Kendricks with Blue's booming Bass Echo's.
Eddie. The sweetest voice around David The tightest vocals around Paul the Finest Dancer around Melvin The finest bass singer around Otis.... . He was Around Just kidding 😂😂😂 he actually had a fine voice .
And of course Benny Benjamin and James Jamerson as your drummer/bassist respectively. More talented than the band itself. They had great voices but they didn’t write the music. Most talented people here aren’t even credited.
Today, as I prayed for strength to keep holding on to Jesus our Messiah, this song came to my mind. It was one of my favorites back in the day. But, when I listened to it this time it had a totally different message for me. It speaks of the Rapture of Jesus calling His bride (believers) up to Him in the clouds. Get Ready Cause Here I come!!!! And the pure love He has for us! I'm old and ready to go home with Him and now days all that is left to happened is for Him to call us up!!!! Get Ready People!!!! Believe in Jesus the Messiah, the only one who saves, before it's to late. Blessings upon all of you. Amen!
