Prepare the nerd goggles-
The sun disappeared "approximately 10 minutes ago" before the EAS alarm
Light takes 8 to go from the sun to earth, so by the time the alarm went out, it was too late
The timing is approximate, as our research shows it takes about 8 minutes and 20 seconds for light from the Sun to reach Earth. Therefore, if the Sun were to suddenly disappear, it would take that long before we noticed any change.
