It's good you got to get into the aisle before it got really crowded, so you could film freely. 😁 wow are they still giving pillows and blankets I wonder with the pandemic situation. Food presentation, isn't really the best lol but I suppose it's to be expected, view certainly makes up for it especially at 07:19 wow! Flying over the rockies is also always epic, the snow capped mountains. 😊 I might actually fly with them overseas early next year, seems like a good airline for it. 😊

Vancouver Airport also has a beautiful hotel right at the terminal. Spent a night there once when returning from Hawaii as I was travelling standby and the connections to Toronto were all full.

So, Air Canada still goes straight for the main meal. No pre meal drink orders taken, even though the flight has a duration of over 9 hours. This policy seems to go back years and years. How often, I have hoped to have a relaxing cocktail, wine or beer before the meal service. I don't know where this policy originates, but it's totally uncivilized in my estimation. They also have a policy of only allowing one drink at a time, which I understand. For example, no ordering two gins and a can of tonic. Now, unless someone is already drunk on boarding, no way are they going to get drunk before lunch on one cocktail. Now, just for the record, I am not talking about complimentary drinks. Even if you are purchasing, no way you can get one before the meal. End of rant! On your part, excellent video which I totally enjoyed watching!

You should've seen the "breakfast" they served us aboard my YYZ to ZRH flight last February: it could only have been described as "miserly" and "contemptuous"!! I think you'd find a lot of Canadians don't "expect more" from Air Canada!!
I've only flown on the Air Canada Dreamliner domestically in Canada, it is one of those aircrafts where I will go out of my way to book a flight on it, I really do enjoy flying on it.
I flew with Air Canada many times - well being Canadian it should make sense, eh? - great pilots and efficient aviation. However, two missing components. First, meals MUST be worked on it more and improve quality and quantity, to be a bit more generous does not lessen Air Canada's credits compared to other international airliners. Second component, staff and I mean flight attendants appear some of them sloppy and old as seniors! Those need to be improved deeply to enhance customer experience for passengers! Otherwise, great airline!
Consistency does seem like a major problem for them. I know of some younger crew members working for Air Canada that are genuinely the nicest people that love to engage with customers. But then you also have some of their older staff that aren't exactly up to snuff. Sure you hear of feel good stories of flight attendants who have worked for 40 years and are still engaging, but that's not what AC has to offer. Their hard product with the seats (especially Business class) are among the best, but the food outside of Business could definitely use some more exciting ideas. Their check in procedures are pretty lack luster. My relative was checking in for a flight from Vancouver to Sydney a few days ago and they had to wait about 40 minutes just to drop off luggage after checking in. Only 3 counters were open to handle 4 fully loaded international flights leaving around midnight and this was Vancouver, one of their major hubs. On paper Air Canada should be an amazing experience, but it's these little things that passengers aren't expecting from an airline of this size that ruins the whole experience.
YVR is one of my favourite airports. There’s a pre-security White Spot in case you get hungry while you’re there just to watch planes. The observation area’s nice and it has a Tim Horton’s too. There’s beautiful native art everywhere, unique to specific areas of the terminal. And you can get to Downtown Vancouver quickly because of the Canada Line

Great video! Aircraft looks super but food offering lacking for such a long flight. AC has been serving those horrible cookies for decades and those entrees never change. I would have expected 2 full hot meals for a flight that length
9:46. A view of the CP yards in Pitt Meadows and Port Coquitlam. It is to bad you cannot see downtown Vancouver as it is not in the landing path. And yes, the Vancouver airport is stunning. Especially on the international side.
It was a disaster that happened to an Air Canada plane that inspired the invention of the escape path lighting system most passenger planes have. It was Air Canada flight 797. Things were going well on board the DC-9, until smoke started entering the cabin, and in the cockpit a circuit breaker tripped. The pilots tried to reset it, but it kept popping out again. The plane made an emergency landing. Only half of the passengers on board managed to make it off the plane before flames shot through the cabin, killing everyone who was still inside instantly. They couldn’t escape because they couldn’t see where they were going due to all the smoke and were unable to find an exit
The catering looks as sad as it looked in 2010 when I flew AC the last time Somehow the main course always looks quite messy. I'm also not a fan of airlines putting a water bottle on the tray to make it look fuller. Providing a bottle of water is nice but it's not really part of the meal
Agreed. Those were pretty sorry mashed potatoes on the main course, and I'm not sure how I would feel about seeing a meat pie... I hope it tasted better than it looked.
I have flown with their 787 in Economy. Never again. Seat pitch is non existent and I am 5.10. Seat width is anemic. People actually were complaining. Do a favor to you and fly business or premium. I have flown business and is amazing.

If the chance ever arises take WestJet (they're becoming international with 787s, great service) and porter (small turboprop airline that flies straight into downtown Toronto from major cities) Vancouver is an amazing place but we'd definitely welcome you all to Toronto too

I've been waiting so long for a air Canada one! I guess I missed this in my subscription feed. YVR is my home airport, and I love it so much

Only the runways jut out into the Pacific. It is like landing on water. It is really cool.
